'Mission: Impossible 7' to No Longer Be Filmed Back-to Back With the 8th Installment

    Paramount Pictures

Director Christopher McQuarrie, in the meantime, shuts down reports that the seventh movie in the action franchise had been disrupted again by COVID-19 pandemic-related travel issues.

    Feb 16, 2021
AceShowbiz – Tom Cruise’s seventh and eighth outings as Ethan Hunt in the “Mission: Impossible” franchise will no longer be filming back to back.
The action star and director Christopher McQuarrie have been battling COVID-related dramas to complete the seventh movie in the popular series, and now Deadline sources have revealed Paramount bosses have rescheduled plans to shoot “Mission: Impossible VIII”.
That’s partly because Cruise won’t be able to film while promoting “Top Gun: Maverick”, which is set for release on July 2.
He is expected to pick up the eighth “Mission: Impossible” movie later this year.

Meanwhile, in an Instagram post on Sunday, February 14, McQuarrie shot down U.K. tabloid reports suggesting “Mission: Impossible VII” had been disrupted again by pandemic-related travel issues. Instead, the filmmaker revealed the cast and crew had completed filming in the Middle East and were on their way back to London to apply a few “finishing touches.”

Prior to this, it was reported that production was halted as some people refused to work and demanded to head back to the U.K. before the country’s new travel restrictions are implemented. An insider explained, “The whole production has hit yet another issue and there have been revolts among the cast and crew.”
“For quite a few of them, the prospect of having to quarantine in a hotel back in the U.K. is a step too far and they’ve demanded to be flown home before the rules change. The studio has had to fund a jet back and the missing cast and crew will inevitably cause another delay,” the source added. “It was hoped that filming in the UAE would provide some flexibility but that changed when the UK shut its borders.”
“Mission: Impossible VII” is still on track to hit cinemas in mid-November, while “Mission: Impossible VIII” remains on the calendar for early November, 2022.

Reports of Tom Cruise Bringing COVID-19 Robots to 'Mission: Impossible 7' Set Debunked

    Paramount Pictures

It was previously said that the Ethan Hunt depicter and producer of the movie bought robots to enforce safety on the film’s set after two crew members broke COVID-19 protocols.

    Jan 16, 2021
AceShowbiz – Having been known for going great lengths to ensure safety on the “Mission: Impossible VII” set, Tom Cruise has been reported taking an extreme measure to enforce COVID-19 protocols. The actor and producer of the action film series was said to have bought two robots to patrol the set.
As filming is reportedly set to resume in the U.K. later this week before moving to Dubai, “Tom is so serious about making sure the shoot isn’t shut down that he’s splashed out on these robots as he can’t be everywhere to ensure people are behaving themselves,” a source told The Sun.
The robots, which reportedly can administer on-the-spot COVID-19 tests, were described by a source as “really sophisticated and rather intimidating. It’s like the Terminator only not as violent.”

A rep from the “Mission: Impossible VII” production has not responded to the story, but /Film’s source has begged to differ. Debunking the reports of Cruise bringing robots to the set, the source told the site “the story is inaccurate and confirmed that there are no robots on set.”
Cruise was caught launching into an expletive-laden rant on the London set of “M:I 7” in December 2020 after two crew members broke COVID-19 protocols. He reportedly spotted two assistants huddled around a monitor, watching playback and ignoring social distancing rules he had helped to introduce.
In an audio obtained by The Sun, the 58-year-old actor was heard yelling at the crew, “I don’t ever want to see it again. Ever! And if you don’t do it, you’re fired, and I see you do it again you’re f**king gone. And if anyone in this crew does it… And you, don’t you ever f**king do it again. That’s it. No apologies.”
His co-star Vanessa Kirby later came to Cruise’s defense, telling Extra in an interview earlier this month, “I think being safe is the message for everybody, really.” The actress, whose sister works as part of the assistant’s director’s team on the film, added, “For me, seeing my sister doing it on the ground and every day coming home from work and it all going well, it was all inspiring. The whole industry has been shut down – cinemas, theaters, film sets. Seeing her go and do it and be one of the first ones up gave me hope.”

Tom Cruise to Move 'Mission: Impossible 7' Filming to Former Secret Military Base After COVID Rant

    Instagram

The lead actor and producer of the upcoming action film is reportedly spending millions to build the world’s most secure studio in Surrey, South East England after lashing out at crew members over COVID breach.

    Dec 28, 2020
AceShowbiz – Tom Cruise is once again willing to go great lengths to ensure the safety of the cast and crew of “Mission: Impossible VII” while filming on the movie continues on. Following his on-set rant due to breach of COVID-19 protocols, the actor/producer is said to be building a COVID-19 secure studio at a former military base.
Per reported by The Sun, the Ethan Hunt depicter is spending millions to complete the new set at the former top secret military base in Surrey, South East England. When completed, the modified tank design base Longcross is hoped to be the world’s most COVID-secure studio.
Cruise was caught launching into a profanity-laden tirade at crew members on the set in Leavesden, Herts earlier this month, after allegedly seeing two crew members standing too close to one another in front of a computer screen.

Following the rant, Cruise reportedly took a break from filming the action movie for an early Christmas holiday. Friday, December 18 was reportedly his last day on the set for the year end and he reportedly planned to take his private jet to Miami, Florida where he would spend some time with his son Connor.
“Tom has decided he’s ready for a break and is now going to wind up filming for 2020 on Friday, and fly to Miami over the weekend on his private jet to spend Christmas with his son,” a source told The Sun. “It’s the end of a really tough year, and a bit of time out seems like a good idea for everyone as tensions have been mounting for a while.”
Meanwhile, some crew members have come in Cruise’s defense following the rant. “Tom helped set up the COVID protocol. Of course, he takes it personally when the protocol is broken,” a source from the U.K. production explained. “In all the years of filming the ‘Mission: Impossible’ franchise, no one has ever even heard Tom raise his voice. He is usually just laser-focused on filming. This movie is very different though. He has to film while making sure everyone stays safe.”
Cruise was previously reported to have paid £500,000 to rent an old cruise ship for the cast and crew of “M: I 7” to isolate on.

Tom Cruise Taking a Break From Filming After Angry Rant on 'Mission: Impossible 7' Set

    WENN

The main star of the ‘Mission: Impossible’ movie franchise is reportedly going to return to Miami for an early Christmas break following his tirade on the set.

    Dec 19, 2020
AceShowbiz – Tom Cruise is reportedly wrapping his 2020 work commitments early following his much-publicised on-set rants.
The superstar lost his cool recently when he spotted two assistants huddled around a monitor, watching playback, ignoring social distancing rules he had helped to introduce to try and keep the set of the forthcoming “Mission: Impossible 7” coronavirus-free.
He launched into a furious tirade threatening to fire anyone who didn’t take the rules seriously and, according to The Sun, the 58-year-old actor will be taking a break from filming the movie for an early Christmas holiday.
According to the publication, Friday (18Dec20) will be his final day on set for the year and, from there, he plans to take his private jet to Miami, Florida where he’ll spend some time with his son Connor.
“It has been exhausting keeping the production on track for so long, and it’s not getting any easier – Christmas can’t come soon enough,” an insider told the outlet.

“Tom has decided he’s ready for a break and is now going to wind up filming for 2020 on Friday, and fly to Miami over the weekend on his private jet to spend Christmas with his son.”
The source added, “It’s the end of a really tough year, and a bit of time out seems like a good idea for everyone as tensions have been mounting for a while.”
During his first rant, Cruise hinted at his exhaustion, claiming he was in constant contact with studios, insurance companies and producers as the production was seen as the “gold standard” for filming amid the pandemic.
However, according to officials from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, the mask he’s been snapped wearing on set, featuring a carbon filter and breathing valves, may be ineffective in preventing the spread of coronavirus.
“This type of mask may not prevent you from spreading COVID-19 to others,” they state, reported TMZ. “The hole in the material may allow your respiratory droplets to escape and reach others.”

Crewmembers Quit 'Mission: Impossible 7' After Tom Cruise Lashes Out for Second Time

    Paramount Pictures

Several people working on the set of the upcoming seventh installment of ‘Mission: Impossible’ movie have reportedly given up their job after the main actor ranted again.

    Dec 18, 2020
AceShowbiz – Five crewmembers from Tom Cruise’s new “Mission: Impossible” blockbuster have reportedly quit following a second on-set outburst from the action man about COVID-19 safety violations.
The superstar lost his cool recently when he spotted two assistants huddled around a monitor, watching playback, ignoring social distancing rules he had helped to introduce to try and keep the set coronavirus-free.
He launched into a furious rant threatening to fire anyone who didn’t take the rules seriously.
“We are creating thousands of jobs, you motherf**kers,” he raged at the Warner Bros. Studios in Hertfordshire, England. “I don’t ever want to see it again, ever! And if you don’t do it you’re fired, if I see you do it again you’re f**king gone.”
The audio was leaked by The Sun on Tuesday (15Dec20), and shortly after the news hit headlines, he allegedly unleashed another tirade at cast and crewmembers – prompting a handful of staffers to resign.

“The first outburst was big but things haven’t calmed since,” a source told The Sun. “Tension has been building for months and this was the final straw. Since it became public, there has been more anger and several staff have walked.”
“But Tom just can’t take any more after all the lengths they have gone to just to keep filming at all. He’s upset others aren’t taking it as seriously as him. In the end, he’s the one who carries the can.”
Representatives for Cruise and Paramount Pictures studio officials have yet to comment on the news.
“Mission: Impossible 7”, directed by Christopher McQuarrie, is due for release in November, 2021.
Production was halted in March (20) due to the COVID-19 pandemic, but shoots have since taken place across Europe over the last few months. Filming has been halted a couple of times due to coronavirus-related issues.

Tom Cruise Caught Going on Tirade at 'Mission: Impossible 7' Crew for Breaking COVID Rules

    WENN

The Ethan Hunt depicter is furious after reportedly seeing two of the crew standing too close to one another on the production set in London, threatening to fire any of them if he ever sees it again.

    Dec 16, 2020
AceShowbiz – Tom Cruise went off on “Mission: Impossible VII” crew for violating COVID-19 guidelines on the London set. The 58-year-old actor was caught throwing an expletive-laden rant after allegedly seeing two crew members standing too close to one another in front of a computer screen.
In an audio obtained by The Sun, the Ethan Hunt depicter, who also produces the movie, expressed his frustration at the crew. “We are the gold standard,” he yelled at them. “They’re back there in Hollywood making movies right now because of us! Because they believe in us and what we’re doing! I’m on the phone with every f**king studio at night, insurance companies, producers and they’re looking at us and using us to make their movies. We are creating thousands of jobs, you motherf**kers.”
He warned them, “I don’t ever want to see it again. Ever! And if you don’t do it, you’re fired, and I see you do it again you’re f**king gone. And if anyone in this crew does it… And you, don’t you ever f**king do it again. That’s it. No apologies.”
“You can tell it to the people who are losing their f**king homes because our industry is shut down. It’s not going to put food on their table or pay for their college education,” he explained why he’s so strict with the rules. “That’s what I sleep with every night – the future of this f**king industry!”
Cruise continued, “So I’m sorry, I am beyond your apologies. I have told you, and now I want it, and if you don’t do it, you’re out. We are not shutting this f**king movie down! Is it understood? If I see it again, you’re f**king gone.”

Asking for their cooperation, Cruise asked the crew, “Am I clear? Do you understand what I want? Do you understand the responsibility that you have? Because I will deal with your reason. And if you can’t be reasonable and I can’t deal with your logic, you’re fired. … I trust you guys to be here.”
Cruise has been strict about enforcing COVID-19 guidelines on the set of the film in Britain after 12 people on set in Italy were said to have tested positive. He even took a great length to ensure the safety of the crew by paying £500,000 to rent an old cruise ship for the cast and crew to isolate on.
“Tom has taken it upon himself, along with the health and safety department, to try to force the safety precautions, with a view to keeping the film running,” a source tells the site. “He does daily rounds to make sure that everything is set up appropriately, that people are behaving and working as safely as they can. He is very proactive when it comes to safety.”
Of what setting him off that day, the source says, “Everyone was wearing masks. It was purely that these people were standing under a metre away from each other. It isn’t known whether he saw those guys breaking the rules before or whether this was the straw that broke the camel’s back. People make mistakes and they slip up, but Tom is just on it.”
“Mission: Impossible VII” is directed by Christopher McQuarrie and set for release on November 19, 2021.

  • Tom Cruise Filming 'Mission: Impossible 7' Stunt on Moving Train

    Paramount Pictures

The Ethan Hunt depicter is seen in footage taken by a local bystander perching on top of a train cutting across the Norwegian countryside while being joined by some crew members.
    Oct 5, 2020
AceShowbiz – Tom Cruise has once again proven that he’s giving it all for the next “Mission: Impossible” movie. The actor has been caught on camera filming a high-risk stunt for “Mission: Impossible VII”, which has been in production in Norway.
New set videos taken by local bystanders show the Ethan Hunt depicter filming an epic stunt on a moving train that’s cutting across the Norwegian countryside. In footage shared by a Twitter user, the 58-year-old is seen waving to the camera while perching atop the train and joined by several crew members.
Cruise’s co-star Hayley Atwell apparently also took part in the filming of the action stunt as she shared on Instagram her picture and a video showing the view from the moving train. “Oh hi everyone, didn’t see you there,” he caption the image and footage. “here’s Norway in all its splendour. #setlife #missionimpossible yes, I’m standing on top of a train. #fitforpurpose.”

Director Christopher McQuarrie also teased what the scene would look like in the film. In a picture of the said scene, Cruise is featured having a duel with a guy on the train with harnesses attached to their waists to keep them save. Crew members are filming the scene atop the train while a helicopter, possibly also used to film the scene, is seen hovering nearby.
McQuarrie shared the image to mark the end of filming in the country. “Norway’s scale and beauty have left an indelible and defining imprint on our film and reminded us that anything is possible,” he wrote in the caption.

“On behalf of everyone working on Mission: Impossible, our sincerest thanks to The Norwegian Film Incentive, The Norwegian Railway Museum, the infinitely patient Strand and Rauma Municipalities, our endlessly enduring Norwegian crew, along with everyone who supported our filming here,” he continued. “And, of course… The Mountain.”
The filmmaker added, “Most of all, we give thanks to the warm and welcoming people of Norway. Your kindness and consideration are nothing less than an inspiration. We’ll miss you dearly and look forward to seeing you again.”
“Tusen hjertelig takk,” he wrote in Norwegian, which means “Thank you a lot”. He then revealed their next destination for the filming, concluding the message with, “Buckle up, Roma. Here we come… #MI7MI8.”

Last month, Cruise filmed another death-defying stunt for the movie as he’s seen riding a motorbike on a massive ramp in with a long drop to the bottom at the end of it in the middle of a mountainside scenery in Norway. He’s riding it on full speed before going off the ramp.
“Mission: Impossible VII” is set to arrive on November 19, 2021. Simon Pegg, Rebecca Ferguson (II) and Vanessa Kirby also star in the upcoming installment of the action film series.
