Strictly star Sunetra Sarker shared details of her wedding to long-term partner Scott Carey after six years of dating.
The Ackley Bridge actress didn’t quite manage to avoid drama despite loving her big day.
Sunetra, who appeared on Strictly Come Dancing with Brendan Cole back in 2014, recently told the Loose Women panel her friends didn’t like her wedding dress.
Speaking to co-stars Nadia Sawalha and Jane Moore, Sunetra said her friend’s brutal honesty was a shock so close to her big day.
She said, “I was in this wedding dress shop and I’d tried a few on and I thought, ‘This is the one’ and I put a deposit down.”
Sunetra invited her friend to come along because she was: “Ready to show off.”
However, on seeing the dress, her friend said: “As long as you like it that’s all that matters” and added, “It doesn’t matter what I think!”
Sunetra recounted, “She’s clearly trying to be diplomatic but all I can hear is, ‘You hate it, you hate it, you hate it. You hate me! You hate everything about the dress!”
The distressed star later called in her friend’s husband, another friend of hers, but she wasn’t satisfied with his reaction either.
After strolling in and asking what the problem is, Sunetra wanted more support from her friends.
When recounting the story for the Loose Women panel, she said, “You’ve just seen me in a wedding dress and you’ve just said, ‘What’s the problem?’ You haven’t even said, ‘You look great!'”
Despite her dress drama, Sunetra looked over the moon on her wedding day.
The TV personality posted a gorgeous pic of the pair on her Instagram page wearing a different dress.
She said: “As an Indian girl, you dream of looking like the princesses you see in fairy tales.”
The former Casualty star most certainly looked like a princess on her big day.
However, that wasn’t where her fairytale wedding ended.
Sunetra and Scott invited a range of celebrity guests to the beautiful Cotswold setting.
Harking back to her days on Strictly, Sunetra invited wildlife presenter Steve Backshall, who appeared on Strictly in 2014, and his Olympic rower wife Helen Glover.
Fellow actress Jo Joyner also attended, as well as actor couple Louise Delamere and Stephen Mangan.
Mrs Brown’s Boys creator Brendan O’Carroll was also in attendance.
Sunetra, who played Dr Zoe Hanna in Casualty for nine year, gathered her friends and family at the Asian-inspired Matara Centre for the ceremony.
The actress told OK! magazine at the time: “Before the wedding, Scott kept saying: ‘I’m going to start crying as soon as I see you,’ and I kept saying: ‘I’m not.'”
Sunetra continued: “Then of course on the day I was in floods. I saw all the faces of everyone who had been in my life and felt such a wave of love from our friends and family.
“Scott says he had to turn round and have a big word with himself – ‘Come on, keep it together’ – and he did.
As soon as I reached him he handed me the tissue he’d been keeping for himself.”
