Louise Redknapp slams people who didn't have her back on Strictly in cryptic dig

Louise Redknapp has taken a veiled potshot at ‘certain people’ who were not her friends on Strictly Come Dancing.

The former Eternal singer cryptically targeted those individuals in a juicy extract from her new soul-baring autobiography, You’ve Got This.

Louise starred on Strictly in 2016 but revealed in her gripping book: “I felt like certain people had my back, and, in hindsight, this wasn’t really the case.

“I was so scared about going back to normal life and losing what I’d achieved on the show.

“The thing that Strictly gave me was a false sense of security. There is an energy around the show that makes you feel invincible.

However, the 46-year-old admitted the hit BBC show had given her a new direction in life ahead of her high-profile divorce from former husband Jamie.

The pair split acrimoniously in December 2017 with rumours swirling that Louise had grown close her dance partner Kevin Clifton.

Louise played down the speculation but former footballer Jamie was the butt of jokes from close friends James Corden, Freddie Flintoff and Jack Whitehall.

“I could see Jamie getting angrier and angrier with the jokes,” admitted Louise, but insisted they learned to laugh off false speculation.

She stressed: “It would be impossible to do a show like Strictly without forming a professional friendship – you wouldn’t be able to dance well with someone you hated; it would make the whole experience utterly miserable.

“You have to enjoy what you are doing in order to do a good job, but that doesn’t mean that there is any more to it than the dancing.”

And Strictly provided the platform mum-of-two Louise had craved for a long time – and she used it to get her career back on track.

“Strictly gave me a new path; it showed me that I would be OK, and that I could find work again,” she revealed in another honest extract.

“After Strictly I realised that I couldn’t just go back to my life as it had been before. I didn’t want to continue running around after everyone else, occasionally promoting a yoghurt or doing a little TV presenting job.

“I wanted to sing, I wanted to perform and get back on a stage in front of an audience.”
