Good Morning Britain host Kate Garraway gave fans an update on her husband’s health on Thursday’s (August 18) show.
Derek Draper has had a series of health issues after he was left “fighting for his life” when he contracted covid-19 in 2020.
Last month he was rushed back to the hospital with sepsis.

The update came as Kate was interviewing the rail union boss Mick Lynch on the upcoming strikes.
She told him about the experiences she had with rail staff and staff shortages, despite praising their high levels of service.
She explained: “I spend pretty much all of my time on trains, or in hospital with Derek.”
Earlier this month, Kate said: “The sepsis is under control. One kidney is looking really good, just need to look at the other one.
“We’re back on the right side of it now.”
At the time Kate also praised the doctors for their amazing work and thanked fans for their positive messages.
She said: “It’s lovely to be back and thank you for all your good wishes as always, it means everything.”
Derek fell into a coma after catching covid in 2020 and became the country’s longest suffering covid patient following a 13-month stint in hospital.
Last April, he was able to go back home with Kate and their two children – 16-year-old Darcey and 12-year-old Billy – and had been receiving 24-hour care.
However he has been in and out of hospital since and he fell “really unwell” again on July 9.
Kate had to take a leave of absence from GMB and returned at the beginning of this month.
As she returned to the show, she gave fans an update and said: “He was just really unwell, he’d come out of hospital the day before and I got a phone call from the person looking after him saying, ‘right we’re really worried’.”
Kate explained: “So I whizzed home and it just sort of went ‘boom’ from there.
“We called an ambulance, went to A&E and they said he had very severe sepsis, life threatening sepsis.”
“So it was really dramatic.”
The mum-of-two added: “Brilliant work by the A&E, absolutely extraordinary, because when you’ve got sepsis, the big challenge is find the source of infection, quickly and get the right antibiotics and his blood pressure was so low, 50 over 40.”
GMB airs weekdays at 6am on ITV.
