Peter Kay makes rare appearance at star-studded Ivor Novello Awards

Peter Kay’s loyal legion of fans rejoiced after he was pictured on stage at the Ivor Novello Awards as the stand-up comic made a rare public appearance.

The 48-year-old funnyman has continued to keep himself out of the public eye in recent years and prefers to steer clear from public events in general.

Since his last tour in 2011, the dad-of-one has only appeared at special events and has been rarely seen by his fiercely loyal fans over the past decade.

So when the TV star makes a rare appearance at public events and awards ceremonies, his loyal legion of fans rejoice at his return to the big stage

On Thursday (May 19), TV historian Lucy Worsley shared a snap of the Max and Paddy star as he dressed up to the nines for the prestigious awards ceremony took place at JW Marriott Grosvenor House in the heart of London.

Peter looked dashing in his two-piece suit which he teamed with a pair of tan brown leather shoes as he addressed the audience at the beloved awards ceremony.

Lucy captioned the sweet snap: “And is that REALLY Peter Kay??? And yet …”

The Ivor Novello Awards are given to artists by The Ivor Academy for their exceptional songwriting and composition, with the winner selected by judges at the academy.

And it appears as though fans of the northern star may not have to wait too much longer to see him back on stage once more.

Fellow comic Jason Manford, 40, has hinted the actor could be returning to his life on stage after he told his fans to “keep an eye out” for Peter.

Speaking on Dublin radio station FM104’s Strawberry Alarm Clock show, Jason said: “He’s great, Pete. We’ve known each other a long time, it must be 25 years. It’s been a hell of a ride.

“He’s just an absolute legend isn’t he? What a treasure. Hopefully back himself soon, doing stand-up, so keep your eye out for his tour. Not that he needs you to buy a ticket as much as I do.”

Pete was set to go on tour back in 2018, but cancelled all 100 dates despite successfully selling out arenas for his Peter Kay Live Arena Tour months before he was set to step on stage due to “unforeseen family circumstances”.
