Emmerdale fans have “worked out” that a character will die after bosses made the “biggest mistake ever”.
Last year fan-favourite character Rishi Sharma (Bhasker Patel) was suddenly killed off. Days earlier, Jai Sharma (Chris Bisson) discovered that Rishi wasn’t his biological father and it was in fact Amit Sharma (Anil Goutam), Rishi’s younger brother.
On the day of Jai and Laurel’s wedding, and before Rishi could patch things up with his son, he was found dead at the bottom of the stairs. The coroner confirmed Rishi’s cause of death was an accidental fall, but fans were certain there was more to it.

Shortly after Amit turned up in the village. It was later revealed Amit was present when Rishi died and earlier this month, the businessman suggested that he was involved in his brother’s tragic death.
Now, spoilers for the soap have confirmed that Amit will go after Eric Pollard (Chris Chittell), who was recently diagnosed with Parkinson’s disease. When Amit discovers that Eric is one of the wealthiest people in the Dales, he propositions him with a business opportunity.
But it becomes clear all is not as it seems and he has an ulterior motive. This hasn’t gone down well with viewers, who took to Reddit to vent about Rishi’s death and the new storyline.
“How to make an unpopular character worse – here’s how,” wrote one person. Another responded: “Lovely kind, Rishi was killed off, for this nonsense. Another villain character, just what, Emmerdale needs.”
A third echoed: “Can’t believe they got rid of Rishi for this character.” Someone else fumed: “Biggest mistake they ever made second only to having Manpreet break up with Rishi for the worst vicar that ever existed (he has no kindness or compassion for anyone).
Another has suggested that Amit’s days in the village are numbered, predicting a death for the villain. They wrote: “1000% we’re gonna get a who killed Amit story line and Ill put money on it being this year tbh. No hate to the actor because he’s doing a fine job but the character is so unlikeable and not even in a good way.”
