Beat The Chasers star Darragh Ennis made a savage dig at missing Chaser Anne Hegerty during the latest episode.
Thursday’s edition (May 19) of the ITV game show saw The Governess continue her absence after testing positive for coronavirus.
Addressing her absence at the beginning of the episode, Beat The Chasers host Bradley Walsh said: “Still no Anne.”
The quizzer, 63, was soon on the receiving end of jokes from her cheeky co-stars.
Comparing the absent Governess to Disney villain Cruella De Vil, Paul Sinha added: “We don’t know where she is.
“Our only clue is her 101 Dalamations have gone missing as well.”
Keen to stick the boot in further, Darragh compared Anne to horror legends such as Candyman and Bloody Mary.
He said: “It doesn’t matter, Brad. We can get her back whenever we want.
“You just look in a mirror and say her name three times.”
The gag went down well with fans on Twitter, with one viewer commenting: “CandyAnne, CandyAnne, CandyAnne.”
The Governess herself also clapped back at the comments.
Sharing her own opinion on Darragh and Paul’s digs in a tweet, Anne wrote: “My colleagues are evil.”
It appeared Anne hadn’t taken her co-stars comments to heart however, as she followed up her tweet with a laughing-face emoji.
Following her absence, Anne was swiftly replaced by Australian Chaser Issa Schultz.
Anne recently shed light on who she believes is the best chaser on the popular quiz show and why she believe’s its not her.
Appearing at the MEN Pride of Manchester awards on Tuesday (May 10), Anne exclusively told Daily Star: “It’s not me, Paul is the best – well Paul is the best quizzer.
“But Paul and Mark are both the fastest – so it would be out of them.”
