Chart-topping singer/songwriter Kamille says she and Simon Cowell feel the need to protect and safeguard new boyband December 10 following the tragic death of Liam Payne
Hitmaker Kamille admits she’s feeling fiercely protective over new boyband December 10 following the tragic death of Liam Payne.
The songwriter worked closely with Simon Cowell while searching for the next breakout group for his Netflix special The Next Act, and says safeguarding the band has been a top priority.
She told me: “For us at the forefront is about the care for the band and safeguarding and Simon cares really deeply for people he works with.
“There’s so much safeguarding and processes in place that were there to look after the band. And obviously we were all really devastated by the loss of Liam.
“So I think it just kind of put everything into perspective for everyone really to just make sure that at the forefront one they were being taken care of and everyone was really happy.”
Kamille – who has penned hits for Dua Lipa, Little Mix, Kylie Minogue and more – has also written a track for the boys alongside Ed Sheeran and Steve Mac.
And she’s embraced a big-sister role with the seven-piece. She said: “I feel like I’m their big sister at the moment, so I’m always just giving them so much advice.
“They came over to my house the other day and we were just talking about how they’re feeling and what they’re up to and that’s really, really important for me.
“I think I get to do a lot of that when I write for artists. I get to do a lot of checking in.”
Dubbed the ‘fifth member of Little Mix’ after writing so many of their hits, Kamille says she’s hopeful the girls will reunite in the future.
“I’m so proud of them, they’re all killing it in their own way and I think it’s so important that they’ve had this time to just develop who they are as people.
“But I do also hope that there’s gonna be another Little Mix comeback because I just miss it so much.”
It could even include Jesy Nelson. “That’s my dream just as much as anyone else’s,” she quipped.
December 10 are preparing to release “loads of music” in the New Year.
