  • Katy Perry Uses Music to Show Her Relationship With Orlando Bloom Is Not Always Perfect

    WENN

The ‘Chained to the Rhythm’ singer says she and her fiance have been through ‘hell’ in their relationship before they are ready to settle down and start a family together.
    Aug 23, 2020
AceShowbiz – Katy Perry and Orlando Bloom have been through “hell” in their relationship.
The 35-year-old singer is expecting her first child, a daughter, with fiance Orlando. But before the pair reached the happiest point in their romance, they had to get through more than a few problems.
Speaking to Apple Music about her personal life, Katy explained that she took to her songwriting to recount the difficult times, saying, “For us, and you can hear that even in Champagne Problems, which is a song on the record, you can hear that we’re not flaunting how in love we are.”
“We have been through f**king hell. We have been down to the mat and come back up again so far, and that’s even what the song Witness was about: ‘If I lost it all today, would you stay? Could you go down with me to the mat and come back up?’ ”
Now Katy and Orlando have “come back up again” since the tough times, but the “Smile” singer insisted that they both still have to put in the work when it comes to maintaining a happy romance.
“You’ve got to make a choice every day to be in this relationship and to work hard on yourself with someone that’s mirroring you so intensely,” she explained. “Like, he doesn’t let me rest. He’s not Katy Perry’s biggest fan. He’s here for Katheryn Hudson (Katy’s real name). He’s here for building.”
The coronavirus pandemic meant that Katy and Orlando had to put their wedding plans on hold. However, the 35-year-old singer isn’t letting the change of plans get her down, admitting that it reminded her of the fluidity of life.
“For us, it’s about partnership and it’s about, right now, taking it one week at a time,” she said. “We had a whole thing planned and that got canceled, so we’re just looking forward to a healthy arrival at this point in time. It’s funny. It’s like: ‘Don’t make too many plans this year because it’s a real go-with-the-flow time.’ ”

  • Katy Perry Tired of Being Pitted Against Fellow Female Artists

    Apple Music

The ‘Smile’ singer is frustrated by fans who are constantly trying to stir up controversy by comparing her to fellow female singers like Taylor Swift and Ariana Grande.
    Aug 22, 2020
AceShowbiz – Katy Perry hates constantly being pitted against other female singers by fans.
The “Roar” hitmaker, who famously feuded with Taylor Swift before they called a truce, complained to Zane Lowe on his Apple Music podcast that she gets daily comments comparing her to artists like Taylor, Ariana Grande, and Lady Gaga, and suggested male singers don’t have the same struggle.
“We never see Niall Horan and Shawn Mendes fighting, you don’t read about Ed Sheeran… and Justin Bieber fighting, right? You never hear that. But take any female performer and you hear about it every single day,” the pregnant singer told Zane, reported Metro.
“You wanna read my Twitter comments? No, you don’t, because it’s like, ‘who’s better than who? Who’s skinnier than who? Who’s sold more number ones than who? Who’s doing better this year than who? Who made this much more?’ Ok, well, what about just liking the music? Why is it about… why?”
While she admitted she is competitive, Katy insisted she is “not competitive with women.”
“I truly just want every single female in the industry to feel supported and loved and feel like they can speak their truth and deliver their message no matter how many of us women are in the industry.”
She added, “There’s only five other people in the world that are going through this and you’re in the same room, can we please just have some f**king wine and talk about how hard this is?”

Katy and Taylor initially fell out when the “Bad Blood” singer accused her of stealing three of her backing dancers for her tour. But Katy insisted she wants nothing but the best for her fellow female star.
“It’s hard for young girls growing up (with) cliques and high school and pettiness and all that stuff, so now we’re super friendly.”

  • Katy Perry Spills How She Came Up With 'Smile' for New Album's Title

    Instagram

During an appearance on shock jock Howard Stern’s radio show, the ‘Firework’ hitmaker admits she felt ‘so ashamed’ for having to take medication when she battled depression.
    Jul 22, 2020
AceShowbiz – Katy Perry decided her latest album should be called “Smile” after realising she had lost hers during a battle with depression.
The pop star admits she was in a very dark place when she started work on the project and couldn’t find happiness in dating and shopping – the things she used to turn to when faced with the blues.
“I’ve always had a playful thing about my music and I lost that… I had really lost my smile,” she told shock jock Howard Stern during an appearance on his radio show on Tuesday, July 21, revealing the criticism she received about her previous album, Witness, really upset her.
“You create art and you’re excited for it to be received by the world. When it’s not received by the world, when it’s kind of like, ‘No, thank you’, you think, ‘Oh s**t, that doesn’t feel good’.”
“It was more (depression) than I had ever faced in my life. I’d had bouts of depression before, but I had been able to avoid falling into the really dark depression by making music. It’s like all these things you do to distract – you eat, you work, you get a new boyfriend, you shop.”
Things go so bad that Katy had to start taking medication.
“I was so ashamed… because I was like…, ‘I wrote Firework!’ But it was one of those things where I’d sprained my brain a little bit.”
Pregnant Perry’s new album, “Smile”, will be released next month.

  • Katy Perry Looks Downcast as Clown on Cover of Her New Album

The ‘Fireworks’ hitmaker wears a red nose and shows no smile at all on the artwork of her upcoming sixth studio installment despite the title being ‘Smile’.
    Jul 10, 2020
AceShowbiz – Katy Perry has shared the cover of her new album, “Smile”, with fans.
The “Roar” singer sent the image of herself looking down and fed up, while wearing a red nose, to devotees via her online newsletter, urging them to pre-order the release now.
The album, featuring the hits “Daisies” and “Harleys in Hawaii”, actually drops on 14 August (20), around the time of another major Perry release – the birth of her first child.

Smile comes with a collection of new merchandise, including rainbow socks, T-shirts, a jigsaw and a $20 (£15.80) face mask.
Meanwhile, the singer recently revealed she’s planning to take a long break following the album’s release, so she can focus on motherhood and plan her wedding to fiance Orlando Bloom.
“After my child comes, I’m going to go into my own other version of quarantine and I would like this record that I’ve been working on for two years to come out and be a gift to the public, because I think they’re all gonna be dancing in the street at some point when it’s safe,” Katy told “Good Morning America”.
She also admitted she started work on the new album – her fifth – when she was in a dark place two years ago, and feels the project is a kind of a rebirth.
“It’s a record about resilience and finding kinda the light at the end of the tunnel, because I’ve been writing over the past two years and in the beginning of those two years… I was kinda like clinically depressed and coming out of that and I didn’t know what my life was… and I couldn’t really imagine living, to be completely honest,” she explained.
“And now, I feel like I’ve done the work and I’m still doing the work, emotionally, spiritually, physically, psychologically and now I’ve come to this light at the end of the tunnel… I am gonna live and not only that, I’m gonna bring life into the world.”
