  • Sofia Vergara Denies Being a 'Victim' in Viral 'Ellen DeGeneres Show' Clip

    Warner Bros.

Fans appreciate the ‘America’s Got Talent’ judge’s clarification as one of them writes on Twitter, ‘I love you Sofia thank you for speaking out and standing by Ellen!’
    Aug 22, 2020
AceShowbiz – Sofia Vergara has broken her silence after a video featuring her many appearances on “The Ellen DeGeneres Show” went viral. In the video, the “Modern Family” alum and Ellen DeGeneres were seen discussing the former’s English skills, prompting many people to think that the host was being racist to Sofia.
“Two comedians having fun with each other to entertain. I was never a victim guys, I was always in on the joke,” Sofia wrote on her Twitter account on Friday, August 21. She also attached the link to the 2015 clip in which the pair talked about filming new CoverGirl commercials together.

Sofia Vergara set the record straight about her appearance on ‘The Ellen DeGeneres Show’.
“They give her the hardest lines too because we have to describe what’s in the CoverGirl makeup and she has such a hard time pronouncing any of the ingredients,” Ellen joked. Laughing, the “America’s Got Talent” judge responded, “I think because you are much more famous than me and older than me so they give you priority and you read the script first and then you’re the one that makes me say those words because there’s no way.”
“They make her look pretty and make me say the important information,” Sofia added, still while laughing.

Fans appreciated Sofia’s clarification as one wrote in the replies, “I love you Sofia thank you for speaking out and standing by Ellen!” Echoing the sentiment, another fan tweeted, “thank you for speaking up for Ellen and just trying to be decent and fair! You are wonderful!”
“I love you BOTH so much and when I heard these comments i was so stunned. Comedy and entertainment isn’t for everyone,” another comment read. Meanwhile, someone else dubbed Sofia “one of our fav guests on the show.”
The resurfaced clip arrives as “The Ellen DeGeneres Show” was hit with toxic workplace allegations. Following an investigation, three senior producers, Ed Glavin, Kevin Leman and Jonathan Norman, were let go while the show is increasing the perks for current staff members.

  • Ellen DeGeneres Increases Staff's Perks Amid Backlash to the Show

    Warner Bros.

It is reported that the perks include increased paid time off and a liberal medical leave policy after former and current employees accuse the show of toxic work environment.
    Aug 22, 2020
AceShowbiz – “The Ellen DeGeneres Show” has upped several new perks for its weary staff amid accusations of toxic work environment. It is said that the perks include increased paid time off and a liberal medical leave policy.
Variety reported on Thursday, August 20 that staffers will receive five paid days off to use at their discretion, birthdays off, and paid time for doctors appointments and family matters. Senior producers Mary Connelly and Andy Lassner broke the news at a virtual town hall on Monday, August 17.
During the emotional video conference, it was revealed that executive producers Ed Glavin, Kevin Leman and Jonathan Norman “parted ways” with the daytime talk show. Host Ellen DeGeneres also allegedly issued another apology amid the damning accusations leveled at the show and herself.
Admitting that she “wasn’t perfect,” Ellen said, “I’m a multi-layered person, and I try to be the best person I can be and I try to learn from my mistakes.” She went on saying, “I’m hearing that some people felt that I wasn’t kind or too short with them, or too impatient. I apologize to anybody if I’ve hurt your feelings in any way.”
A source further claimed the 62-year-old TV personality “was emotional, she was emphatic about making it better and making herself more available. She acknowledged she can be introverted at times and she apologized if that was ever seen as hurtful.”
“They’re putting in real structures and resources for people so this never happens again and that is extremely important to Ellen. She was emotional seeing everybody. They’re family,” the source continued.
While Leman, Galvin and Norman were ousted from the show, DJ Stephen “tWitch” Boss is promoted to be co-executive producer. Variety also reported that executive producers Andy Lassner, Mary Connelly and Derek Westervelt still remain on the show.

    Aug 18, 2020
AceShowbiz – An internal investigation by WarnerMedia on “The Ellen DeGeneres Show” following toxic work environment allegations results in the firing of three of the show’s top producers. It has been reported by Variety that Ed Glavin, Kevin Leman and Jonathan Norman have “parted ways” with the daytime talk show.
The news was delivered to staffers in an emotional video conference on Monday, August 17. During the call, host Ellen DeGeneres allegedly issued another apology amid the damning accusations leveled at the show and herself.
A source also told PEOPLE that the 62-year-old TV personality “was emotional, she was emphatic about making it better and making herself more available. She acknowledged she can be introverted at times and she apologized if that was ever seen as hurtful.”
“They’re putting in real structures and resources for people so this never happens again and that is extremely important to Ellen. She was emotional seeing everybody. They’re family,” the source continued.
Another source, meanwhile, claimed that Ellen told the staff that “she’s been dying to see them, that she couldn’t because of the investigation and she really wanted them to hear from her that this is a reset, things are changing and things are going to be better moving forward. And she’s committed to that.”
While Leman, Galvin and Norman were ousted from the show, DJ Stephen “tWitch” Boss is promoted to be co-executive producer. Variety also reported that executive producers Andy Lassner, Mary Connelly and Derek Westervelt still remain on the show.

  • Celebrities Who Come to Ellen DeGeneres' Defense Amid Show's Toxic Environment Accusations

Despite the criticisms of workplace harassment, toxicity and insufferable attitude, some celebrity friends have came to the 62-year-old TV host and comedienne’s defense.
    Aug 16, 2020
AceShowbiz – Mounting allegations, including toxic workplace accusations and mean behavior claims, have been leveled at Ellen DeGeneres and her popular talk show “The Ellen DeGeneres Show”. Former and current employees at the show as well as some stars have spoken out against the 62-year-old presenter, who has issued an apology amid the scandal.
Despite the criticisms of workplace harassment, toxicity and insufferable attitude, some celebrity friends have came to the TV host’s defense. Led by Ellen’s wife Portia de Rossi, they showed support to Ellen and shared that their experience working with the award-winning star had been nothing but pleasant.
Making use of their social media accounts, they defended her friend to shut down the damning allegations against her. Find out those who refuse to jump on the hate bandwagon against Ellen.

    1. Portia de Rossi
    Warner Bros./Michael Rozman

Unsurprisingly, Portia de Rossi is the one standing at the very front line to defend her wife. On Monday, August 3, the model took to Instagram to share a strong message through a photo that said, “I Stand By Ellen.” The picture also had the show’s mantra, “Be Kind To One Another,” on it.

Captioning the snap, Portia wrote, “To all our fans….we see you. Thank you for your support.” Portia, who married Ellen in 2018, also demanded a stop at bot attacks with a hashtag. “Ellen has done so much good for people and is such a bright light in a world with such negativity i.e. Trump. No one person is perfect and she will be the first to admit it. She is real. She is kind. She is brave. We are lucky to have her. I know I am grateful she is in the world,” a fan wrote in the comment section to support Portia.

    2. Scooter Braun
    Warner Bros.

Justin Bieber’s manager Scooter Braun is also among those who defend Ellen amid the mean behavior accusations. Writing in a series of tweets on July 31, he said, “People love to take shots at people. They love to see people fall. How quickly so many forget. @TheEllenShow is a kind, thoughtful, courageous human being who stands for what is right and highlights on her show the best of us. She has helped change the views for equality.”
He continued to gush over Ellen, “Needed to say this as I know first hand how she helps so many when we are watching and when we are not. She isn’t about what is popular she is about what is right. Sending love to Ellen today.”

    3. Ted Cruz
    Instagram

Republican senator Ted Cruz has also publicly supported Ellen amid the backlash despite not knowing her personally. In a tweet on August 3, Ted blamed it on the “intolerant left” as well as condemning cancel culture.
“I don’t know Ellen, but this WaPo chronology makes the whole ‘scandal’ look like an exercise in Cancel Culture trying to destroy her bc she wasn’t woke enough to throw Kevin Hart overboard or be hateful to George W Bush,” he wrote on the blue bird. “Today’s Left is deeply intolerant.”

    4. Geraldo Rivera
    WENN

Also joining the list of celebrities defending Ellen is Fox News contributor Geraldo Rivera. The 77-year-old took to Twitter to remind everyone that Ellen has done and accomplished so much, calling out people for not defending her for that.
“Watching the #CancelCulture mob turn [email protected] and work hard to undo everything Ellen DeGeneres has accomplished in her groundbreaking career should be instructive to all,” he noted. “She made history bringing acceptance to a marginalized segment of society. Where are her defenders?”

    5. Sophia Grace and Rosie McClelland
    Warner Bros.

Cousins Sophia Grace and Rosie McClelland found fame after being regular guests on “The Ellen DeGeneres Show” following their viral cover of Nicki Minaj’s “Super Bass”. Amid the allegations of toxic work environment on the show, 13-year-old Rosie felt the need to “talk from my experiences and my heart!!!!”
Rosie, who started at the @theellenshow when she was just 5, claimed that she and her family “only ever experienced positive and caring vibes from all producers and Ellen herself! @edglavin @tvsmaryconnelly and @andylassner have always been amazing to me and my family and I literally grew up on this show so I can only talk from my experiences but I think that it is important to share these right now!”

She went on saying, “I would never disregard other people’s experiences but it’s just important to talk about all the good that @theellenshow has done over the years and the lives it has supported and changed! I stand by a show that has been amazing throughout my childhood! … Love you Ellen. always!”

    6. Jann Arden
    WENN

Canadian singer-songwriter Jann Arden has also spoken out to defend Ellen. She shared on Twitter that she was treated nicely by the TV host despite her being nobody at the time they met.
“#ellenDegeneres was very nice to me when I met her- and I’m nobody. It was around 1996 I think… I played the theme song on her sit-com. It was such an exciting gig to be honest. She’s worked her a** off- built a lot of goodness into her work. That counts,” she tweeted.

    7. Jerry O’Connell
    Warner Bros.

Joining in others, Jerry O’Connell made public his support for Ellen. The “Sliders” star took to his Twitter account to share a “I Stand by Ellen” poster which was first posted online by Portia.
“Love @TheEllenShow & @portiaderossi Always have. Always will,” so Jerry declared in the caption. A fan echoed the sentiment, replying, “glad to finally see a friend stand by her. that’s what friends do there for good and bad times. if it’s TRUE, hopefully she can learn and improve.”

    8. Ashton Kutcher
    Warner Bros.

Amid claims that Ellen was being mean to others, Ashton Kutcher can testify that she’s nothing like that to him. The “Killers” actor shared in a tweet on August 4, “I haven’t spoken with @TheEllenShow and can only speak from my own experience. She & her team have only treated me & my team w/ respect & kindness. She never pandered to celebrity which I always saw as a refreshing honesty. When things aren’t right she handles it and fixes.”
He doubled down on his statement when one of his followers pointed out that he’s a celebrity while those who claimed to be treated badly by Ellen were her current and former employees. “Too bad her staff doesn’t have ‘teams,’ ” so the fan wrote, to which Ashton replied, “No but they are part of one and those individuals should be held accountable.”

    9. Jay Leno
    Warner Bros.

Jay Leno is standing by Ellen. The former host of NBC’s “The Tonight Show” made use of his Twitter account to publicly declare that he wouldn’t “discard a 40-year friendship on hearsay.” He added, “The Ellen I know has raised over $125 million dollars for charity and has always been a kind and decent person. I fully support her.”
Jay, who first met Ellen when she was just breaking into the stand-up comedy scene, once gushed over Ellen and her talent. “I always thought you were really funny because comedy is comedy. I always hated the term ‘comedienne.’ When I was a kid, they had comedians and ‘comediennes,’ which were female. Comedy is comedy. Funny is funny,” he raved.

    10. Alec Baldwin
    Warner Bros./Michael Rozman

As a recurring guest on “The Ellen DeGeneres Show”, it’s only natural for Alec Baldwin to speak out about the backlash. The “Saturday Night Live” star detailed his experience working with Ellen on the popular show.
“In the entertainment business, sometimes people can go too far in pursuit of a creative or commercial goal. Or people who work for you may do so. Having stated that, @TheEllenShow has always been kind to me. So . . . there’s that,” he wrote on Twitter.

    11. Nacho Figueras
    Warner Bros.

Despite everything, Ellen is a “wonderful human being” to Nacho Figueras. The Polo champion and famous close friend of Prince Harry spoke out in support of Ellen in a lengthy Instagram post on August 2. “I have been patiently waiting for someone with more authority than me to speak up about what a great human being @theellenshow is,” he began his post.
Saying that Ellen “is nice to absolutely everyone, the guy serving the coffee, the person in the elevator, the security guy and the owner of the venue,” he went on to add that “Everyone loves her because that is who she is. She makes the world a better place for millions of people everyday and we cannot hit her because something may have not been perfect.”

He noted that “no one is perfect, and we cannot control everything. So I stand for you my friend and I challenge all the amazing people that know you and call you a friend to say who you are. The world has become a very dangerous place because it seems that we cannot make anything right. If I am going to be criticized for defending someone that I think deserves to be defended then so be it.”

    12. Diane Keaton
    Warner Bros.

Diane Keaton has also supported Ellen amid the accusations. Taking it to her Instagram account, the “Annie Hall” actress recalled when she made an appearance on “The Ellen DeGeneres Show” back in 2018.

“I ALWAYS ENJOYED MY VISITS TO THE ELLEN SHOW. I’VE SEEN HOW THE AUDIENCE EXUDES HAPPINESS AND GRATITUDE. SHE GIVES BACK TO SO MANY INCLUDING ME. @theellenshow,” she wrote in the caption.

    13. Katy Perry
    Warner Bros./Michael Rozman

Katy Perry refuses to stay mum while her friend is getting backlash. The “Fireworks” hitmaker shared to her Twitter followers on August 4 that while she knew that she “can’t speak for anyone else’s experience besides my own,” she wanted “to acknowledge that I have only ever had positive takeaways from my time with Ellen & on the @theellenshow. I think we all have witnessed the light & continual fight for equality that she has brought.”
Her public support for Ellen earned her criticism but Katy didn’t seem to regret it. “I started that tweet off not undermining anyone else’s experience,” the pregnant singer told The Times on August 14. “I wanted to only speak from my own experience. I have over 100 million people that follow me on Twitter, so not everyone is going to agree with me. And I’m not here to make everyone agree with me.”

    14. Kevin Hart
    Warner Bros.

Kevin Hart returns his support to Ellen after she defended him after scandal regarding his homophobic remarks and jokes, which cost him a hosting gig at the Oscars 2018. At the time, Ellen invited him to her show where she forgave the actor and applauded his change of behavior and maturity.
“It’s crazy to see my friend go thru what she’s going thru publicly. I have known Ellen for years and I can honestly say that she’s one of the dopest people on the f***ing planet,” Kevin wrote in an Instagram post on August 4. “She has treated my family and my team with love and respect from day 1. The internet has become a crazy world of negativity….we are falling in love with peoples down fall. It’s honestly sad…When did we get here? I stand by the ones that I know and that I love.”

“Looking forward to the future where we get back to loving one another….this hate s**t has to stop. Hopefully it goes out of style soon….This post is not meant to disregard the feelings of others and their experiences….It’s simply to show what my experiences have been with my friend. Love you for life Ellen…,” he concluded his message.

  • Former 'Ellen' Employee Compares Working on the Show to 'the Devil Wears Prada'

    WENN

An ex-camera assistant used the 2006 film starring Meryl Streep as a comparison when describing their past experience of working on ‘The Ellen DeGeneres Show’.
    Aug 14, 2020
AceShowbiz – A former staffer from “The Ellen DeGeneres Show” has alleged the atmosphere in the workplace was “like The Devil Wears Prada.”
The former camera assistant, who remained anonymous during the interview, compared the working environment to the 2006 film, based on the 2003 novel of the same name, about a college graduate who works for a domineering fashion magazine editor in New York City.
It suggests a tense environment with nervous staff walking on eggshells around a demanding boss – presumably the host herself.
The former staff member said, “I worked there for a little over a year. It’s kind of like The Devil Wears Prada. Everyone is trying to make it to the (end of a) year.”
“It’s just a badge of honour to have that and have it on your resume,” they told Australian radio show “Stav, Abby & Matt”.
Talking about their interactions with Ellen, they added, “I wasn’t even allowed in the same room as her. Most people are told, ‘When Ellen enters the room, you and your entire crew need to leave.’ ”
“Sometimes her bodyguards come forward first and you kind of see them and you know to leave and that’s it.”
Ellen has come under fire over numerous allegations of a “toxic” work environment from former employees, and recently released a statement, admitting she was “sorry” about the alleged incidents.

    NBC

The ‘So You Think You Can Dance’ star insists there will continue to be love for Ellen DeGeneres despite allegations that she ignored toxic environment on her show.
    Aug 13, 2020
AceShowbiz – “The Ellen DeGeneres Show” star Stephen ‘tWitch’ Boss has spoken out about allegations against the TV host.
Ellen has come under fire over numerous allegations of a “toxic” work environment from former employees, and recently released a statement, admitting she was “sorry” about the alleged incidents.
While the comic has said little more on the matter, Boss, who has been the DJ on the talk show since 2014, told US Weekly that he legally couldn’t say much on the matter, but confirmed he is still employed with the show and remains good friends with Ellen.
“We can’t speak too much legally about it, but I’ll say this, there’s been love,” he shared. “Obviously there’s some things to address, but from my standpoint and from countless others, there’s been love.”
The “So You Think You Can Dance” star added he’s going to “just leave it at that until there’s a time where we can address more publicly. There’s been love and there will continue to be love.”
While Boss’ experience has been positive, former DJ Tony Okungbowa, who appeared on the show from 2003 to 2006 and again from 2007 to 2013, admitted he “did experience and feel the toxicity of the environment” on the programme.

  • Eric Andre Encourages Fan Petition Calling for Him to Be New Host of 'The Ellen DeGeneres Show'

    WENN/Avalon

Ellen DeGeneres has been accused by past and present employees turning her back on producer misconduct and harassment behind the scenes on her daily talk show.
    Aug 6, 2020
AceShowbiz – Comedian Eric Andre has endorsed a fan petition calling for him to replace talk show host Ellen DeGeneres amid accusations she’s not as nice and kind to staff as she claims to be.
Andre has shared links to a Change.org petition, which boasts over 20,000 signatures, calling for him to take charge of “The Ellen DeGeneres Show”.
The news comes a week after Ellen issued an apology to past and present employees, who have accused her of turning her back on producer misconduct and harassment behind the scenes on the show, as friends and foe take sides.
The “Finding Dory” star’s former on-air sidekick Tony Okungbowa has become the most high-profile member of Ellen’s network to speak out about the “toxicity” on the set, telling Entertainment Weekly, “While I am grateful for the opportunity it afforded me, I did experience and feel the toxicity of the environment and I stand with my former colleagues in their quest to create a healthier and more inclusive workplace as the show moves forward.”
DeGeneres is currently part of an investigation into workplace practices.
Okungbowa joins Lea Thompson and Brad Garrett among those attacking Ellen for her show’s alleged “toxic work environment,” while Katy Perry and Kevin Hart have stood up for the host, insisting they never experienced any bad blood behind the scenes during their visits to “The Ellen DeGeneres Show”.

  • Former 'Ellen' Producer Claims She's 'Emotionally Abused and Fired for No Reason' From the Show

    WENN

Hedda Muskat says she was subjected to emotional abuse while working on ‘The Ellen DeGeneres Show’ and claims the television host was very rude to her employees.
    Aug 6, 2020
AceShowbiz – Former “The Ellen DeGeneres Show” producer Hedda Muskat has alleged she was “emotionally abused” while working on the daytime programme.
Claims about the “toxic” workplace environment first emerged in a Buzzfeed news article in June (20), when one current and 10 former employees spoke about their negative experiences on the show – under the condition of anonymity.
On Wednesday (05Aug20), Muskat became the first of the show’s former producers to put her name to her allegations, recalling her time on the programme in an interview on Australia’s “Sunrise” morning show.
“I was more emotionally abused, fired for no reason… they told me that they were just going to take the show in a different direction. They ended up gave my job to a guy I trained who was about 24 years old and had no experience,” she claimed.
She claimed that Ellen was rude to her from the beginning, and she soon learned the hard way that she wasn’t welcome to talk to the host.
“When you walk into her office for example, to pitch her your segments, there was always a snarl. I always felt that I was never welcomed in her office, she always hurried me, ‘like get to the point, get to the point,’ ” she said.
After a few months, Muskat was allegedly told not to go into Ellen’s office anymore.
She also claimed she was shown “so much disrespect” when she took her daughter into work one day and wanted to introduce her to the 62-year-old presenter.
“She just snarled again, walked by and I was flabbergasted, she didn’t even make eye contact,” she said. “I was told later to no longer bring my daughter to work… I was told… ‘she doesn’t want kids in the office.’ ”
Now, Muskat is hoping that her decision to come forward with her story will encourage others to publicly do the same.
“I’m coming forward because… she trivialised and minimalised everybody’s accusations…. nobody wanted to listen to us until now,” she concluded.
Ellen has yet to comment on the allegations about her show workplace environment herself, but has had celebrity friends including Katy Perry and Ashton Kutcher come forward in her defence.
