Meanwhile, Ellen’s brother Vance DeGeneres comes to his sister’s defense amid the public scrutiny, calling the vicious attack and allegations against the host ‘bulls**t.’
    Aug 5, 2020
AceShowbiz – Amid the toxic environment controversy against “The Ellen DeGeneres Show”, more people came forward with more allegations in support of the damning claims. On Tuesday, August 4, Tony Okungbowa, who served as the morning talk show’s DJ for several years, took to his Instagram account to share his experience working on the daytime show.
“Hey Guys, I hope you are all keeping safe out there during these trying times. I have been getting calls asking me about the Ellen Degeneres Show and I would like to address the time I spent there,” Okungbowa, who currently stars as Kofo on the CBS sitcom “Bob Hearts Abishola”, wrote in the post.
Echoing current and former employees’ claims about the show’s toxic environment, Okungbowa added, “I was on air talent from 2003-2006 and from 2007 -2013. While I am grateful for the opportunity it afforded me, I did experience and feel the toxicity of the environment.” He concluded his message by saying that he stood “with my former colleagues in their quest to create a healthier and more inclusive workplace as the show moves forward.”

Meanwhile, Ellen DeGeneres’ brother Vance DeGeneres came to his sister’s defense amid the public scrutiny. Calling her a “bright light in a dark world,” the 65-year-old said on Twitter on Tuesday, “If you think Ellen would knowingly allow bullying or racism on her show, you don’t know my sister. She has been and continues to be a bright light in a dark world. She’s one of the kindest, most generous people you’ll ever meet. And one of the funniest.”

Vance DeGeneres defended his sister Ellen amid backlash.
He doubled down on his support for the award-winning host on his Facebook post on the same day. “Ok, I need to say something. My sister is being viciously attacked. And let me assure you – it is all bulls**t. I put up a simple statement yesterday that said ‘I stand by Ellen.’ Only a handful of my Facebook ‘friends’ responded to it,” he wrote.

He continued, “If you don’t support Ellen, then you don’t support me, so please unfriend me. I’m sick and tired of my sister being attacked. She always has – and always will – stand against bullying of any kind. She’s a smart, strong woman who has made a positive difference in the world. And to my friends who did respond with support for Ellen and my family, thank you so much. It means a lot.”

  • 'Ellen DeGeneres Show' Hit With Sexual Misconduct and Harassment Allegations After Host's Apology

    NBC Studios

Shortly after Ellen DeGeneres offers apology, former employees come forwards calling her show ‘a place where sexual harassment and misconduct’ run rampant.
    Aug 1, 2020
AceShowbiz – Ellen DeGeneres has once again come under fire after 36 former employees came forward with allegations of sexual misconduct and harassment from senior-level producers working on the star’s TV show.
Just hours after the host admitted she was “sorry” about recent allegations of a “toxic” work environment from former employees of “The Ellen DeGeneres Show”, BuzzFeed published the new article, reporting that “the office is a place where sexual harassment and misconduct by top executive producers runs rampant,” according to “dozens of men and women who work behind the scenes.”
Speaking about their experiences, the employees, who were all kept anonymous, range from longtime, senior-level employees to production assistants. They claimed that senior producers would regularly make sexually explicit comments in the office, and many of the targets were “lower-level and younger employees who felt they lacked any power to speak up.”
Other employees alleged inappropriate touching took place, with many of the allegations made against executive producer Ed Glavin.
“We’re young people who were forming our careers and were unfortunately subjected to a toxic work environment as some of our first jobs out of college,” a former employee said. “And some of us were sexually harassed and that’s what was shaping our careers our first year out of school.”
While Warner Bros. executives didn’t comment on the new allegations, they gave a new statement after launching an investigation into the show, insisting they “hoped to determine the validity and extent of publicly reported allegations and to understand the full breadth of the show’s day-to-day culture.”
“The Ellen DeGeneres Show is, and has always strived to be, a place that brings positivity to the world,” they said. “We have identified several staffing changes, along with appropriate measures to address the issues that have been raised, and are taking the first steps to implement them.”

  • Ellen DeGeneres Breaks Silence on Show's Alleged Toxic Environment: I'm 'Disappointed' and 'Sorry'

    NBC

Meanwhile, Warner Bros. has also released a new statement in which it talks about ‘several staffing changes’ as executive producer Ed Glavin is reportedly set to exit ‘The Ellen DeGeneres Show’.
    Jul 31, 2020
AceShowbiz – Ellen DeGeneres has finally responded to rumors regarding alleged toxic environment on her talk show “The Ellen DeGeneres Show”. Amid an internal investigation done by WarnerMedia on her popular show following racism, workplace intimidation, and mistreatment allegations, the 62-year-old TV personality shared in an internal memo that she’s “sorry” for what happened and claimed that she had been misrepresented.
“Hey everybody – It’s Ellen. On day one of our show, I told everyone in our first meeting that The Ellen DeGeneres Show would be a place of happiness – no one would ever raise their voice, and everyone would be treated with respect,” she began saying in the memo, which was obtained by Variety on Thursday, July 30.
She added, “Obviously, something changed, and I am disappointed to learn that this has not been the case. And for that, I am sorry. Anyone who knows me knows it’s the opposite of what I believe and what I hoped for our show.”
Thanking everyone for the show’s success, Ellen said that she took responsibility on everything that happened on the show since “my name is on the show.” Ellen continued, “Alongside Warner Bros, we immediately began an internal investigation and we are taking steps, together, to correct the issues. As we’ve grown exponentially, I’ve not been able to stay on top of everything and relied on others to do their jobs as they knew I’d want them done. Clearly some didn’t. That will now change and I’m committed to ensuring this does not happen again.”
Later, Ellen defended herself, saying, “I’m also learning that people who work with me and for me are speaking on my behalf and misrepresenting who I am and that has to stop. As someone who was judged and nearly lost everything for just being who I am, I truly understand and have deep compassion for those being looked at differently, or treated unfairly, not equal, or – worse – disregarded. To think that any one of you felt that way is awful to me.”
“It’s been way too long, but we’re finally having conversations about fairness and justice. We all have to be more mindful about the way our words and actions affect others, and I’m glad the issues at our show were brought to my attention,” she went on to say. “I promise to do my part in continuing to push myself and everyone around me to learn and grow. It’s important to me and to Warner Bros. that everyone who has something to say can speak up and feels safe doing so.”
Before concluding her memo, Ellen claimed that she would’ve made this announcement “in person” if not for the COVID-19 pandemic, and apologized to those who didn’t “love working” on her show.
Meanwhile, a spokesperson for Warner Bros. released a new statement that read, “We have identified several staffing changes, along with appropriate measures to address the issues that have been raised, and are taking the first steps to implement them. Warner Bros. and Ellen DeGeneres are all committed to ensuring a workplace based on respect and inclusion. We are confident this course of action will lead us to the right way forward for the show.”
It is said that EP Ed Glavin is set to exit the show. However, a rep for Warner Bros. declined to comment on his alleged departure.
