  • The Weeknd's Severed Head Charms Strangers in Bloody 'Too Late' Music Video

Directed by Cliqua, the five-and-a-half-minute visuals continues the storyline from ‘In Your Eyes’ music video that ended with the Canadian superstar getting beheaded.

    Oct 23, 2020
AceShowbiz – The Weeknd has delivered a new music video fitting for the Halloween season. On Thursday, October 22, the Canadian superstar shared the accompanying visuals for his “After Hours” track “Too Late”.
Directed by Cliqua, the new clip continues the storyline from “In Your Eyes” music video that ended with The Weeknd getting beheaded. His severed head is now lying on the streets before being discovered by two bandaged women who are on their way home from getting plastic surgeries. Rather than being horrified like normal people would, both of them are charmed and decide to bring him home.

Once they arrive at their mansion, they start seducing him and making out with him in the pool, though of course, it will be so much better with a complete body. In order to achieve that, the women call a male stripper to their mansion and kill him for everything but his face, before attaching The Weeknd’s head to the stripper’s body. Things get more steamy afterwards.
As mentioned above, “Too Late” is one of the songs featured in The Weeknd’s fourth studio album “After Hours”. Receiving generally positive reviews from music critics, the effort debuted at No. 1 on Billboard 200 and marked the biggest first week sales of the year after racking up 444,000 equivalent album units. It additionally broke the record for the most global pre-adds for an album in Apple Music history, with over 1.02 million users pre-adding the album to their libraries.
Furthermore, it receives nominations in several awards, including ARIA Music Awards and People’s Choice Awards. Meanwhile, one of its singles, “Blinding Lights”, has won Best R&B and Video of the Year at the 2020 MTV Video Music Awards in addition to topping music charts in several countries including the United States, Canada and Sweden.

  • The Weeknd Shuts Down Speculation That He's Beefing With Usher: He's the 'Sweetest'

    Instagram

‘It wasn’t a feud,’ The Weeknd, whose real name is Abel Tesfaye, says of his controversial comments on Usher’s 2012 single ‘Climax’ in a cover story with Variety on April 8.
    Aug 26, 2020
AceShowbiz – There is no music beef between The Weeknd and Usher, at least according to the former. In his interview for Esquire cover story, the “Starboy” hitmaker denies having hard feelings for the “No Guidance” singer.
“It wasn’t a feud,” The Weeknd, whose real name is Abel Tesfaye, said of his controversial comments on Usher’s 2012 single “Climax” in a cover story with Variety on April 8. “I hit him up to apologize and tell him that it was misconstrued. He’s one of the reasons why I make music. Definitely.”
The “After Hours” musician went on to say, “No, no, I have nothing bad to say about Usher.” The Weeknd further gushed over Usher, calling him “the sweetest, most down-to-earth guy ever.”
The feud rumors between the R&B superstars started after The Weeknd compared “Climax” to his earlier moody R&B music in the interview with Variety. “I heard ‘Climax’, that [2012] Usher song, and was like, ‘Holy f**k, that’s a Weeknd song.’ It was very flattering, and I knew I was doing something right, but I also got angry. But the older I got, I realized it’s a good thing,” he said at the time.
Following the publication of the article, Usher’s frequent collaborator Eric Bellinger started the #ClimaxChallenge on Instagram, showing off the original artist’s piercing falsetto. “Big Bro jumped in to set the record straight!!!… Now all we waitin for is you @theweeknd,” Bellinger wrote in the caption.
Diplo, who served as the song’s co-producer and co-writer, also weighed in on the matter. In a series of tweets, he admitted that The Weeknd’s 2011 “House of Balloons” mixtape was such a crucial influence to the song.
“The production on Climax lends itself to House of Balloons era @theweeknd. when I heard those early records they blew my mind – soulful in their silences, and a spacey iconic voice that felt uniquely internet,” Diplo tweeted on April 9. “The idea of R&B having dark edges was what I wanted to bring to @usher.”

  • The Weeknd Hopes to Create a Whole Album for Female Artist

    WENN

The ‘Blinding Lights’ hitmaker makes the admission in a new interview as he addresses his misogynistic past lyrics, stressing that he never intended to offend anybody.
    Aug 26, 2020
AceShowbiz – The Weeknd is keen to write a whole album for a female artist to balance out his misogynistic past lyrics.
The Canadian star admits he often writes for a character he has created and his alter egos are not always politically correct, good guys.
“When you hear some of the drastic stuff… it is me singing the words; it is my writing,” the “Blinding Lights” singer tells Esquire.
“It’s like you want people to feel a certain way. You want them to feel angry. You want them to feel sad. You want them to feel. It’s never, like, my intent to offend anybody. I’m a writer. Sometimes I write a song and it’s not in my head. I’m writing it for someone else, but then I end up singing it.”
And now he’s hoping to show off the full range of his lyrical talents by creating songs from a female perspective.
“I want to write a whole album for a female artist,” he adds. “I have a whole vision of The Weeknd.”

In the meantime, The Weeknd has teamed up with DJ Calvin Harris for a new single, “Over Now”, which drops on Friday, August 28.
