British model Stella Tennant dies aged 50

Model Stella Tennant’s family confirmed the news that she has died aged 50.

Her family said in a statement: “It is with great sadness we announce the sudden death of Stella Tennant on 22nd December 2020.

“Stella was a wonderful woman and an inspiration to us all. She will be greatly missed.

“Her family ask for their privacy to be respected. Arrangements for a memorial service will be announced at a later date.”

Stella was a huge name in the 90s fashion scene and was known for her androgynous looks and quirky sense of style.

She graced the cover of many magazines, including French, British and Italian Vogue and Harper’s Bazaar.

Stella also showed off her modelling prowess in an appearance during the 2012 London Olympics, as she was selected to appear in the closing ceremony alongside a handful of other British models.

Stella and the other models appearing in the ceremony, all wore a number of fashion items made by British designers.

In August, it was reported Stella had split from her husband David Lasnet following 21 years of marriage.

The couple had four children together, who are now all in their late teens and early twenties.

Stella and David tied the knot at the height of her fame as a catwalk model.

The pair raised their children in the Scottish borders together after David retrained as an osteopath.

Their home was situated near her family’s 17th century Scottish estate.

Stella was the granddaughter of Andrew Cavendish 11th Duke of Devonshire and The Hon. Deborah Mitford.
