Claire Sweeney slices hand open live on stage causing play to be suspended

Claire Sweeney’s latest theatre production has been suspended after the actress sliced her hand open live on stage in front of the audience.

During the opening night of the Shirley Valentine production, the show was stopped when the former Brookside actress cut her hand open on stage while peeling a potato.

GloucestershireLive reported that Claire, 48, was in the middle of her performance when she injured the palm of her hand.

Claire was forced to flee the stage and have her injury patched up as blood poured from the wound.

The publication claim that Claire was in the kitchen on set and peeling potatoes when she accidentally sliced her hand.

Claire allegedly told audience members that she had to rush off stage and seek help before being able to continue with the set.

She is believed to have said: “I am going to have to go off and get this sorted.”

After having the injury looked it, the curtain came down and Claire later appeared bandaged up before continuing with the performance.

The blonde beauty eventually finished the performance and was given a standing ovation for continuing with the show at the Cheltenham venue.

The Everyman Theatre commented on the incident saying: “Ms Sweeney cut her hand during one of the scenes taking place in Shirley Valentine’s kitchen in Liverpool.
