EastEnders Ian Beale star back on soap after break does him 'world of good'

Veteran EastEnders star Adam Woodyatt is back, we can reveal.

The actor, 52, has returned as hapless Ian Beale after taking an extended break from the BBC soap.

These exclusive snaps show him shooting some of his first scenes since reporting for duty again.

A show insider said: “Adam had a well-earned break and was away from the show for a while, but now he is back.”

Adam was joined on location by co-star Letitia Dean, who plays Sharon Watts.

They were snapped shooting emotional scenes as part of his comeback storyline.

It will see Ian and Sharon visit the grave of her son Denny, played by Bleu Landau, who died in a boat tragedy earlier this year.

Our insider told us: “Adam is already tackling some emotional scenes. The tragedy of Denny’s death is still very raw for both Sharon and Ian.

“Ian blames himself for what happened, so there’s a lot of emotion there.”

According to onlookers who witnessed the filming session, Ian and Sharon have a blazing row at the graveside and she storms off.

Viewers will have to wait for weeks before the scenes air on TV.

Steve McFadden, who plays Phil Mitchell, was also seen at the shoot.

Adam was written out of EastEnders earlier this year after bosses gave him an extended holiday.

It also emerged that he has separated from his wife Beverley Sharp after 22 years.

Show sources say Adam is now “back to his best” after his time off.

One insider told us: “A break has done Adam the world of good.

“He has had time to take stock. He has also lost quite a bit of weight, which he is thrilled about.

“Everyone has loved having him back and noticed how happy he is to be back.”

EastEnders returns to BBC One on Monday, airing on the channel at 8pm
