Elton John marks anniversary with David Furnish with adorable rare wedding snap

Sir Elton John gushed about his husband David Furnish on Monday as the pair celebrated six years of marriage.

The 73-year-old singer took to Instagram to share a throwback of him and his husband, and shared some very sweet words alongside it.

Sir Elton wrote: “Today @davidfurnish and I are celebrating two anniversaries: 15 years of Civil Partnership and 6 years of marriage.

“Our relationship gets stronger every day, and I am extremely grateful for the love we share and our two beautiful sons.

“However, we are the lucky ones, as millions of gay people throughout the world are discriminated against because of their sexuality. This is a disgrace.”

He continued: “We all deserve to love who we want. We will continue to fight for equality for all. @ejaf.”

David, 58, also marked the occasion on his own Instagram page by sharing a couple of photos.

He captioned it: “I can’t believe that 15 years has passed since @eltonjohn and I celebrated our Civil Partnership in Britain.

“What a wonderful day that was. 6 years ago, we renewed our vows and got legally married in front of our two beautiful sons.

“This type of civil progress was unimaginable when I was growing up. Yet despite all this extraordinary positive change, I remind myself that it’s still illegal to be LGBT+ in 70 countries, and that you can be given the death penalty in 12 of those same countries.”

David added: “Through our work with the Elton John AIDS Foundation, Elton and I pledge to continue the fight for equality for our LGBT+ brothers and sisters around the world. @ejaf.”

Rocket Man singer Elton struggled with his sexuality when growing up as he had a toxic relationship with his mother Sheila, who told him he’d “never be truly loved because he was gay” – but he happily found love in David.

The British singer shied away from telling the world he was openly gay until he did an interview with Rolling Stone in 1976, when he revealed he was bisexual.

Sir Elton and David’s relationship began in 1993, and the singer proposed to him at a dinner party in May 2005.

The happy couple share two sons together named Zachary and Elijah, who were born via surrogacy.
