I'm A Celeb's Ruthie Henshall thinks OBE is 'off the table' after royal comments

Ruthie Henshall doesn’t think she’ll be getting on OBE any time soon following the comments she made on this year’s I’m A Celebrity… Get Me Out Of Here!

The 53-year-old actress enjoyed a romance with Prince Edward some years ago, and she couldn’t resist speaking about it during her stint on the ITV show.

During a chat with her fellow campmate Shane Richie, Ruthie said: “Buckingham Palace, you sang in the gardens, I sh**ged in the bedrooms.”

However, since being voted off of the show and realising that her comments were aired, Ruthie has described them as “crass” and says she has learnt her lesson.

Speaking on the I’m A Celeb spin-off show the Daily Drop on Tuesday morning, Ruthie elaborated on the incident.

“That was my first day and I said something off the cuff to make Shane laugh, because I’d met Shane before, having no idea, truly that that was going to be picked up,” she told Vick Hope.

Asked if Prince Edward had watched the show she laughed: “I don’t know, but I think my OBE’s off the table now.”

Speaking about whether or not she enjoyed her I’m A Celeb experience, Ruthie said: “Truthfully I did, I loved it, it was such an adventure. But it is brutal.

“I don’t think anybody understands quite how hard the trials are, quite how vile they are.

“I’m sure they think that we get these run-throughs or that we get some kind of pass, or people are giving us protein bars in the background – none of that. What you see is what’s happening. It is brutal,” she continued.

“It’s amazing what you learn about yourself and you have no idea that you’re going in there to learn, you think you’re just going in for an experience.

“Then you come out having epiphanies and going, what just happened?” Ruthie added.

Discussing last night’s double eviction and Jordan’s emotional reaction to Beverley Callard’s departure, Ruthie said: “They had a really special bond, those two. I’m not surprised Jordan got really upset. Russell was my wing man. I think they were each other’s wing men/woman.

“It was really rather lovely to watch [them bond],” she added.
