Love Island Maura Higgins and Chris Taylor filmed leaning in for kiss on camera

Love Island ‘s Maura Higgins and Chris Taylor caused quite a stir on social media today as they both seemingly went in for a kiss.

Even though the steamy encounter was a prank – inspired by the “kiss your best friend” challenge – fans were convinced sparks were flying between the pair.

In the video, Chris, 29, removed his shirt before persuading Maura, 29, to get involved with some Dirty Dancing action, recreating the iconic lift from the 80s flick and holding the former ring girl firmly above his head, with her arms out.

As he brought the brunette beauty to her feet, he moved in for a kiss, but Maura moved away and the clip cut to show Chris’ evident disappointment.

However, later in the clip, it seemed that Maura was the one leading the action as she stepped in for a kiss.

Taking to Instagram to share the moment that his 898,000 followers had been waiting for, he wrote: “Cheers Tiktok… bloody fantastic idea, probs shouldn’t have lunged in fairness.

“If anyone’s confused about why I took my top off… go watch Crazy, Stupid Love immediately.”

Unsurprisingly, the racy post seemed to attract quite a lot of social media attention, with the clip racking up over 572,000 likes and hundreds of comments.

One eagle-eyed fan wrote: “Looked like she went to kiss you back.”

Another added: “Oh be an item… both are too damn sexy.”

Their fellow Love Island peers and pals were also on hand to provide their own commentary and were fully supportive of a potential budding romance.

Former sandwich man Joe Garratt penned: “Wait… WHAT!”

Laura Anderson, who was a flight attendant prior to her appearance on the ITV favourite, chimed: “It works every single time.”

While Joanna Chimonides added: “Love this.”

Maura and Chris have always denied that they were anything other than best friends

Speculation mounted about Chris and Maura’s close-knit bond ever since her split from Curtis Pritchard, but the pair have always insisted they are nothing more than friends.

In a recent Q&A video, shared on social media, Maura was asked about her feelings towards Chris.

She said: “This was the first question that came in and I’m not even a bit surprised.

“No, we’re not dating. We are the best of friends. We just get on really well. We got on really well in villa, but not a lot of that was shown.”
