Masked Singer star Denise Van Outen lifts the lid on Hedgehog's identity

After spending weeks concealing her own identify on The Masked Singer, Denise Van Outen is finally free to talk about her stint on the UK’s favourite game of guess who, and she isn’t holding back.

Denise was unmasked on last Saturday’s edge-of-seat show, narrowly missing out on a place in the final after the audience voted for the glitzy and futuristic Fox to be revealed.

During her stint on the show, The Only Way Is Essex narrator wowed the judges with her stage presence and memorable performances each week.

On the opening episode, Fox astounded the panel that includes Rita Ora, Jonathan Ross, Davina McCall and Ken Jeong, as she oozed appeal during a sexy rendition of Blondie’s ‘Call Me’ track.

Speaking to the Daily Star Online, Denise certainly didn’t hold back with her thoughts on the most cryptic character on the UK show.

Many viewers believe that they have already guessed the identities of female contestants Queen Bee and Octopus but the nation still seems to be divided when it comes to the theatrical Hedgehog.

Although the former West End performer had her own verdict in relation to the spiky nocturnal creature.

Denise seemed pretty convinced as she voiced her opinion that Welsh actor and singer “Luke Evans” could be behind the mask.

When prompted for her thoughts on the spiky mammal, the 45-year-old said: “I think it might be maybe Luke Evans the actor because he’s had an album out recently.”

As well as releasing an album recently, Evans also starred in many of London’s West End productions including La Cava, Taboo, Rent, Miss Saigon and Avenue Q, as well as several fringe shows in London and at the Edinburgh Festival.

With a West End and theatrical background, Luke could indeed fit the bill, especially with the vital hint that sees the Hedgehog die on stage at 8:30pm every night.

The mum-of-one also open-up about her time on the show, and even confessed that her partner Eddie Boxall wasn’t fooled and rumbled the fox was her straight away, despite her taking careful measures to hide any traits or gesticulations that could blow her cover.

She said: “What you don’t realise there are certain mannerisms that you do, especially for me with my costume because I could move, there are certain mannerisms or poses that you may do that may give you away.

“My husband said ‘I thought it was you because of the way you stand with your leg’ so things like that you need to be careful of.”

Octopus, Queen Bee and Hedgehog will all go head-to-head this weekend, in a bid to take the first ever victorious crown on The Masked Singer UK.

Tune in for the Masked Singer final this Saturday on ITV.
