Piers Morgan and wife plan saucy roleplay date to spice up 'boring' life

Things got a bit cheeky on Tuesday’s Good Morning Britain when Piers Morgan read some of his wife Celia Walden’s column out on air.

Susanna Reid brought the subject up which prompted Piers to find a copy of the Telegraph, in which Celia is a columnist.

He said: “My wife suddenly, out of nowhere, decided to tell this story.

“We’ve been with the same person all year, you can’t really go anywhere or do anything, it does get a bit boring, so I suggested we go to dinner together.”

He then relayed the conversation, as written in the column, with he and Celia coming up with some roleplay situations to spice things up.

“She said, ‘There was an awkward pause when I tried to rearrange my features into a convincing display of enthusiasm before giving up,'” he read.

“‘No offence,’ Celia replied, ‘but I’ve sort of had my fill of you,’ to which I agreed and said, ‘Likewise.'”

He continued: “‘But then it came to me,’ says Celia, ‘if you were somebody else, say a mobile phone salesman from Kent… ‘and you were someone else,’ he caught on, ‘we would have to have rules. Of course, the wedding rings would come off, we’d be allowed to only meet in the restaurant pub and we’d have to do the whole is this seat taken?'”

Celia had gone on: “I was already planning personas, outfits and laying first date topics when my husband forwarded this exchange.”

Piers said she had asked if he’d had any fantasies he wanted to play out, and he said he had one in particular.

He joked: “I’ve got this one where we pretend that we’re complete strangers and had never met.”

Celia questioned if he meant that he would then pick her up in a bar, but he laughed: “No, just the first bit.”

Susanna laughed, while Piers went on: “Here’s a roleplay – let’s be complete strangers, we’ve never met.”

Piers and Celia have been married since 2010 and they have a daughter, Elise, together.

He also has three sons with his first wife Marion Shalloe – Albert, Spencer and Stanley.

Good Morning Britain airs weekdays at 6am on ITV
