Piers Morgan takes savage swipe at Susanna's appearance amid GMB anniversary

Good Morning Britain hosts Piers Morgan and Susanna Reid celebrated five years working together on Monday.

In true Piers fashion, the 55-year-old outspoken host couldn’t help but take a savage swipe at his co-star.

Piers wasn’t impressed when Dr Hilary Jones pointed out that Susanna, 49, hadn’t changed over the years, unlike him.

Dr Hilary said: “You don’t look a day older Susanna.”

Piers added: “God you’re such a… you really are aren’t you?”

The ITV health expert said: “I’m just saying.”

“Everyone thinks you’re such a nice guy,” Piers said.

“Doctors are trained to observe, that’s all I’m saying,” Dr Hilary remarked.

GMB bosses then shared a collage of Piers from five years ago against a recent picture of him on the show.

Piers insisted that it was “more of a camera angle” as Dr Hilary said he was “only joking”.

However, when a photo of comparison photo of Susanna was shared, Piers remarked: “That’s like a waxwork dummy in both of them, actually.”

Gasps were heard from the crew off-camera as Piers jokingly slammed Susanna’s appearance.

He said: “To try to convince people that you’re really lovely people, lovely smiley, happy people.

“Here’s Susanna from 2003 before the surgery.”

An old photo of Susanna on the BBC was then shared on screen and he commented: “You had quite chubby cheeks back then, didn’t you?”

As well as celebrating the milestone in the studio, Piers also marked the occasion on Twitter with his 7.6 million followers.

Piers and Susanna began working together on November 23 2015

Sharing a snap of him and Susanna raising a mug of tea to the camera, the former newspaper editor penned: “Happy 5th Anniversary @susannareid100 – you lucky devil! @GMB”

Taking to Twitter, one fan penned: “Congratulations Piers and Susanna. Can you not be on for the 5 days a week? Thursday and Friday so boring. Love you Piers.”

Another added: “Happy 5th anniversary to you both and only thing that’s kept us going during this pandemic is Piers trying to get the gutless government to appear on the show, it only took them 200+ days but well done seriously.”

While a third person gushed: “Happy 5th year anniversary, your show blows all the rest out the water.

“They are far too boring to watch where as guaranteed a surprise each day watching you, Piers. Love how your not afraid to say what your thinking.”

A fourth person wrote: “Happy anniversary to @piersmorgan & @susannareid100.

“Nothing is better before going to work then watching you guys to get me going for a busy shift as a nurse in the NHS. Hopefully another 5 years will follow.”

“The traditional 5th anniversary is wood or silverware. Susanna deserves a silver medal and should buy Piers a shed to lock him in when he annoys you!,” posted a cheeky fifth GMB viewer.

Throughout the programme, Piers and Susanna reflected on their successful time together that has seen ratings soar.

Reflecting on how their appearance has changed over the years, Susanna said: “There’s at least a stone difference for both of us.”

Her co-star gave a scathing assessment on the pitfalls of early morning telly, adding: “It basically kills you. It destroys you, inch by inch.”
