Sex in the City actress Lynn Cohen who played Magda dies aged 86

Actress Lynn Cohen has died at the age of 86.

The star was best known for playing the plainspoken housekeeper and nanny Magda in HBO’s Sex and the City.

Employed by Miranda Hobbs, Magda hilariously questioned Miranda’s life choices and although Miranda came close to firing her on many occasions, the season ended with the two characters becoming close friends.

Cohen died on Friday in New York City, said her manager, Josh Pultz.

In her long showbiz career, Cohen had a career in stage, film and as a television performer.

She had many credits ranging from Nurse Jackie and The Marvelous Mrs Maisel.

Cohen also starred in feature films Across the Universe and The Hunger Games: Catching Fire.

In one of her most iconic Sex and the City scenes, Magda is cleaning through Miranda’s bedroom draws when she discovers condoms and other sexual items.

She also featured in the two films made after the TV series ended, which also starred Cynthia Nixon, Sarah Jessica Parker, Kristin Davis and Kim Cattrall.

The star’s IMBD page states that she appeared in multiple projects for 2019 and appeared in several roles on Broadway.

She also made multiple appearances in the Law and Order TV franchise, appearing in the main series as well as Law and Order: Criminal Intent and “Law and Order: Special Victims Unit, according to IMDB.

Her final role that aired was in 2020 for the TV series God Friended Me.

Cohen was also set to act in Six Dinner Parties.

She leaves behind her husband, Ronald, who she married in 1964.
