Tommy Cannon leads mourners at Bobby Ball's funeral as comedian laid to rest

Bobby Ball’s close friend Tommy Cannon has been seen arriving at the comedian’s funeral in Blackpool today.

The beloved actor, 82, looked visibly upset as he turned up to pay his respects to the comedy legend at his funeral in Blackpool today (November 17).

The funny-man died at the age of 76 on October 28 in the seaside town’s Victoria Hospital from coronavirus complications.

Bobby’s funeral cortege joins Blackpool’s East Beach at 1pm today, continuing along Central Beach before stopping momentarily at Lowther Gardens.

The procession will then continue along West Beach and onto Clifton Drive and Inner Promenade, before moving on towards Blackpool Promenade.

At approximately 1.35pm, it is set to pause at Blackpool Tower and the Comedy Carpet, which is where fans will be able to pay their respects.

Bobby found popularity in the 1970s and as part of the comedy double act Cannon and Ball alongside his friend Tommy Cannon.

They had their own television series The Cannon and Ball Show and appeared in a number of movies and programmes together.

Back in 2011, Bobby found a new fanbase when he entered the Australian for the fifth series of I’m a Celebrity… Get Me Out of Here!, in which he came in fifth place.

Following the star’s tragic death, tributes poured in from fans, friends and colleagues who had fond memories of Bobby.

His close friend and co-star Tommy Cannon said: “I’m absolutely devastated, I’ve lost my partner, my best friend and the funniest man I know. Thank you for your messages, prayers and love.”

Former Coronation Street star Les Dennis broke down in tears as he spoke of Bobby on BBC Breakfast.

Previously on Twitter he wrote: “Just heard the sad news that the wonderful Bobby Ball has died. He was a true entertainer with real funny bones. Thoughts with Tommy, Yvonne and his family at this sad time. RIP Bobby.”
