Trisha Paytas recalls 'scariest night of my life' after 'accidental overdose'

Trisha Paytas has bravely opened up on her experience of being treated for her mental health on an involuntary hold exactly a year after she accidentally overdosed on prescription pills.

The 31-year-old YouTube sensation, who rose to fame in the UK when she appeared in Celebrity Big Brother in 2017 and famously feuded with Girls Aloud’s Sarah Harding, has described it as the “scariest night of her life”.

Taking to her official Instagram account, Trisha shared a series of snaps of her in a hospital bed with a long caption detailing the harrowing experience.

Posting to her 2.4million followers, she wrote: “One year ago today I accidentally overdosed on prescription pills and got 5150’d (sent to a mental hospital on an involuntary hold).

“It was the scariest night of my life from what I remember.

“I remember waking up and running away off the gurney naked and being caught, restrained and a forceful shot of Ativan in my thighs to get me under control.”

She continued: “This is not me. This has never been me. Never in my life did I expect to be in a mental hospital against my will.”

Trisha claims she was not given medication during her time in the hospital and was “belittled”.

She said: “They gave me no medication during my stay, no resources on feeling better, they hold you captive and belittle you.

“It made me sad for people actually struggling that there were no resources made available to them.”

Trisha continued by saying she is “trying not to be ashamed” but to “remember that moment as a place I never want to be at again”.

The stunner added: “No pill will numb the pain forever, no drink will mask your sadness.

“I did a year of therapy, strengthened friendships, and lots and lots of prayers. God has always had my back, he’s saved my life time and time again and I know I have purpose here.

“Giving up on yourself will cause so much hurt on others – even if you think no one loves you, they do.

“Sometimes it can’t be seen, sometimes you have to wait, sometimes you’re unable to feel it but it’s there and it’s there in abundance.”

Trisha, who famously stormed out of the CBB house, finished her post by sharing a sweet message to her loyal fans.

She wrote: “We all are worthy of love despite our downfalls and problems, everyone’s a work in progress and we are all human.

“Humans are imperfect but oh so capable of love. Don’t be so hard on yourself, today I am grateful I am here, happy, healthy and proud to share my story.

“That you can live with mental health disorder – and it doesn’t define you nor does it make you unworthy of this life.”
