Britains Got Talent's Sirine Jahangir left in tears during emotional performance

Britain’s Got Talent returned to our screens this evening for the third round of the semi-finals shows.

Musician Sirine Jahangir, who is blind, took to the stage tonight as she competed for a place in the grand final.

The 15-year-old singer broke down in tears during her emotional performance of Carry You by Ruelle.

Sirine, from London, sang the beautiful ballad while playing on a piano adorned with butterflies and the words “You’re not alone”.

The magical effect was compounded by a smoke machine filling the stage with mist as well as CGI butterflies flying around Sirine as she performed.

Current head judge Amanda Holden was visibly moved by Sirine’s stunning vocals and song choice.

The youngster choked up just before the end of her stunning performance.

Judges Amanda Holden, Alesha Dixon, David Walliams and Ashley Banjo, who is stepping in for Simon Cowell. showered her with support.

Viewers at home were also reduced to tears as Sirine sung for her life on the BGT stage.

Taking to Twitter, one fan penned: “Aww that was amazing ,If you didn’t cry you’ve got a heart of stone.”

Another added: “Amazing, emotional and beautiful performance love the song and that Sirine is so talented.”

A third posted: “Absolutely stunning performance from Sirine. Real goosebump stuff.”

While a fourth said: “Omg, Sirine. So emotional. So talented. So beautiful. A little goddess. She could easily win the whole show.”

A fifth BGT viewer wrote: “What a lovely and respectful young lady Sirine Jahangir is. Raw talent to die for. Sirine’s voice and musical abilities are incredible. I hope she goes far in life.”

Sirine recently opened up to Metro.co.uk about losing her sight at the age of 10.

She explained: “I didn’t realise that I was going blind. I mean I didn’t even know what the word was, I was so unaware of the fact that I could potentially lose all my vision and then it happened when I was around like nine or 10.”

“It was definitely a life-changing moment and I am proud of myself for being able to deal with that.

“And it is my parents who really helped me to get through it and my brother.”

Other acts were performed tonight were Myra Dubois, X1X Crew, Magical Bones, Ember Trio and Sign Along With Us, Dario the Dinosaur and Bhim Nirolua.

Comedian Steve Royle and dancers Aaron and Jasmine are already through to the final after impressing the judges during the first two semi-final shows.

The finalists will compete for the £250,000 prize and the chance to perform at the Royal Variety Show, and the acts who do not get through on the judges’ vote in each semi-final still have a chance to win a slot on the public vote instead.
