Coronation Street Carla Connor's huge secret exposed by mystery woman from past

Coronation Street’s Carla Connor (Alison King) is set to be confronted by her past next week, when a mysterious woman turns up at the Rovers Return.

Soap boss Iain MacLeod previously revealed that the ITV show would be returning to look at Carla’s mental health issues, which saw her go missing from the street.

And Coronation Street spoilers for next week seem to confirm that the storyline will be revisited in upcoming episodes.

While in the pub, Carla is shocked when she finds out that Scott worked with her dad Johnny (Richard Hawley) in the 1970s and that he knew her mum too.

Meanwhile, a rough-looking lass called Chelsey turns up at the pub.

She spots Carla and asks Sean (Antony Cotton) who she is, and he tells her that she is his boss.

Soon enough, Carla nips off to the toilet – but Chelsey follows her.

Who could this mystery girl be and how does she know Carla?

Speaking of Carla’s mental health storyline, Corrie exec Iain MacLeod previously told Daily Star Online: “What we wanted to do was revisit that at a point where Carla felt like she was on an even keel psychologically, and also just fill in a few of the blanks really.

“Obviously we don’t know precisely what it was she got up while she was away.

“We saw glimpses of it with the hotel and the squat, but we don’t really know what happened.”

He teased it will have some major consequences, and not just for Carla.

Iain said: “It felt like an interesting opportunity to delve into her recent story and generate something in the present that would reveal something we hadn’t known previously about somebody else in the show.”

It appears that Chelsey will be one of “two people we’ve not seen before, who emerge from Carla’s mental health story”.

These people will then provide “a chance to see somebody that’s currently in the show elsewhere reveal their true colours”.

But who will have their real personality exposed? And will it be Chelsey to do it?

Coronation Street airs Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays at 7.30pm on ITV
