Coronation Street fans baffled by Nicky and Daniel money blunder after sex scene

Coronation Street viewers were left confused this evening, as they tried to get to the bottom of Daniel Osbourne’s financial situation.

On Monday’s episode, the grieving father handed sex worker Nicky Wheatley (Kimberly Hart-Simpson) £200 after they slept together for the first time, the lines of their friendship becoming blurred.

The two have seen their relationship blossom in recent weeks, after he repeatedly paid her to dress up as his late wife Sinead Tinker.

Though their friendship was initially a platonic one, this evening saw the two head to the bedroom, gripped by a fit of passion.

Later, when Nicky overheard Daniel (Rob Mallard) telling Kirk Sutherland (Andy Whyment) he would never replace his late wife Sinead (Katie McGlynn) with a “sex worker,” she was understandably heartbroken.

Confronting him back in the flat, she ordered him to pay for their session together, devastated to think he looked down on her.

He handed over £200 in cash, though begged her to explain the sudden change of heart, unaware she had overheard his conversation with Kirk.

However, as Daniel hasn’t worked in a long time, viewers couldn’t understand how he could afford to hire Nicky so frequently.

In the past, he held down jobs in the cafe, and also worked as a journalist before leaving work behind to become a full-time single dad.

Corrie fans couldn’t understand where Daniel sourced his funds

Over on Twitter, one said: “Where does Daniel get all his money from?”

And a second wrote: “Daniel must be a bank robber.”

While a third chimed: “Where does Daniel get his money from? Don’t recall ever seeing him do any paid work.”

Daniel’s wife Sinead died last autumn in tragic scenes, losing her battle to cancer with her husband and son by her side.

After her death, Daniel had a brief romance with Bethany Platt (Lucy Fallon), before she moved to London to pursue an internship in a swish magazine.

Finally, his relationship with Nicky appeared to be going in the right direction, only for Daniel to ruin things with his careless words.

Can Daniel convince Nicky he has deep feelings for her, or is she better off without him?

Coronation Street airs on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays at 7.30pm and 8.30pm.
