Coronation Street's Nick and Leanne 'split' as secret from his past is exposed

Coronation Street couple Nick (Ben Price) and Leanne Tilsley (Jane Danson) could be on the rocks as soap boss Iain MacLeod has confirmed a secret from Nick’s past will re-emerge.

The storyline will come as part of the ongoing plot with Leanne, Steve McDonald (Simon Gregson) and their son Oliver.

Things are set to kickstart this month as Iain told Daily Star Online: “I love the Leanne, Oliver, Steve story. It’s incredibly heartbreaking but it gathers momentum in September and powers its way to the end of the year.

“It’s one of those soap stories that has tentacles reaching out into all corners of the street, partly due to the nature of Steve and Tracy’s blended family.

Nick and Leanne are de-railed when a surprise from his past turns up

“It’s a story that will have colossal ripples rolling out into the street. There’s loads of interesting extra layers to it.”

He went on: “There’s a big surprise, secret, that comes in from Nick’s past that threatens to de-rail his and Leanne’s relationship.”

Coronation Street spoilers revealed that, next week, while Nick, Leanne and Steve are preparing for their holiday in Cornwall, Oliver’s seizure alarm interrupts them meaning they have to go to the hospital.

Nick bumps into his ex Natasha at the hospital while there with Oliver

While Nick and Steve wait in the corridor, they’re shocked when Nick’s ex Natasha approaches them.

Nick explains that he’s waiting for news about his step-son, while she says she’s there for a dermatology appointment.

Later on, the doctor breaks the devastating news that Oliver has been moved to intensive care and put on life support.

While Leanne stays adamant that he’ll pull through, Nick and Steve aren’t so sure.

And with Nick’s ex making a surprise appearance, could she see some secret from his past exposed?

Nick and Leanne’s romance won’t be the only partnership under the microscope either.

Iain told us: “There’s incredibly relationship stuff with Steve and Tracy.

“It sort of precipitates a story for Simon and Leanne going into 2021, so that’s a story that’s got huge momentum behind it as we go across the autumn and into the winer and, indeed, into next year.”

Coronation Street returns to six weekly episodes from September 14
