EastEnders' Adam Woodyatt drops jaws as he unveils dramatic lockdown weight loss

EastEnders star Adam Woodyatt stole the show on This Morning as he appeared on a clip of Secrets From The Square with Gillian Taylforth.

As the pair discussed their characters Ian and Kathy Beale, and their iconic moments on Albert Square, fans were left very distracted.

Adam was seen laughing with presenter Stacey Dooley in the preview for next week’s episode, but viewers were stunned by his dramatic weight loss.

This Morning soap host Sharon Marshall also noticed the difference, as she introduced the clip by explaining it looked like Adam, 52, had shed some weight.

She said: “Gillian Taylforth hasn’t aged in a million years but Adam Woodyatt, I think, is looking very svelte, post-lockdown.”

Viewers couldn’t believe how different chip shop worker Ian looked as they saw some clips of him from previous episodes, as they rushed to comment on the big change.

One fan wrote: “I didn’t recognise Adam for a minute!”

Another added: “F*** me Ian’s lost some weight ain’t he.”

A third chipped in: “Adam looks amazing omg.”

In the video, Adam revealed that he has called Gillian “mum” since their first day together, and also said he went into her house in the middle of the night to raid her fridge.

He laughed: “I’d be coming come from a night out, coming through Islington on the way home.

“She’d get a ring on the doorbell at two in the morning: ‘Mum, I’m hungry.’ I emptied the fridge.”

Adam and Kathy are the only original characters left, appearing on the soap back in 1985, and appearing in some major storylines.

The soap is set to take a trip down memory lane as it will revisit the shocking murder of his only daughter Lucy, who was killed by her younger brother Bobby.

EastEnders continues tonight at 7.30pm on BBC.
