GBBO suffers another food catastrophe as milk explodes in Marc's face

Great British Bake Off featured another food nightmare during Tuesday’s episode as Marc’s bottle of buttermilk exploded.

The 51-year-old contestant was taking on the first challenge of bread week when the catastrophe occurred and left the tent in stitches.

While making two different types of soda bread, Marc was seen shaking his bottle of buttermilk.

Suddenly, the lid flew off and the baker from Cornwall was left covered in the white liquid.

Marc was gobsmacked as his baking co-stars erupted into fits of giggles.

Host Noel Fielding was also doubling over with laughter as the poor contestant was left wiping buttermilk from his face and ear.

Viewers found the milk explosion hilarious and went into meltdown on Twitter.

One said: “Imagine going on national television and throwing a bottle of milk on your face though.”

While another wrote: “THE WAY THE MILK SQUELCHED WHEN HE PUT HIS FINGER IN HIS EAR #gbbo”.

A third added: “How did Marc manage to get that much buttermilk all over everywhere? #GBBO”.

It was the first food disaster since contestant Sura accidentally knocked some of Dave’s pineapple upside down cakes on the floor in week one.

The incident happened after the show’s first technical challenge of the new series.

As they lined up their baked cakes on the table ready to be judged by Paul Hollywood and Prue Leith, Sura, 31, spotted a fly on one of her buns and swatted it away.

Dave was stood behind her, and unfortunately she bumped into his tray of buns and four of the six tasty treats tumbled to the floor.

Sura was devastated as she apologised to her fellow baker with tears in her eyes.

Dave luckily took it well, reassuring her: “I’m sure they can go by what they looked like before I brought them over.”

At the end of tonight’s nail-biting episode, it was announced that Rowan was the third baker to leave the bake off tent.

He said he felt “content” after leaving and he had a “wonderful time”.

Great British Bakeoff airs Tuesdays at 8pm on Channel 4.
