Geordie Shore stars apologise for 'suicide video' after Caroline Flack's death

Geordie Shore stars Nathan Henry and Sophie Kasaei issued public apologies after a TikTok video they recorded where the pair joked about suicide surfaced online, just days after the tragic death of TV presenter Caroline Flack.

In the video, the reality TV pair lip-synced to a clip, then pretended to look off into the distance as one asked if it was the other’s ex about to jump from a building.

The other then lip-synced to a part which told the ex to ‘do a flip’ from the edge.

Obviously, realising the carelessness of the making such a recording, Sophie took to Twitter to apologise, and said: “As in response to the TikTok, me and @NathanHGShore did it was absolutely irresponsible at this moment in time.

“TikTok is a viral app where you just post videos other people have done. We didn’t mean any harm by it and didn’t even think at the time of what’s going on. “

She added: “As being in the public eye everything you do is put under a magnifying glass. But people who are now calling me names and preaching about trolling etc are then now trolling me after I did a TIK TOK on a video loads of people have done. Which has unfortunately been done bad timing”

Nathan also showed remorse and posted to his page: “In response to the viral TikTok I made earlier, I hold my hands up and admitt, it was irresponsible and stupid to post, especially at this moment in time.

“It was not made to upset or offend anyone and we didn’t even think before posting. All I can do I apologise and do better”

The original video was quickly deleted, but had already circulated on Twitter, where fans slammed the move and its timing, with one asking: “Why did you think it was funny in the first place?’

Another added: “Didn’t think before posting” classic response”

Responding to the comments, Sophie continued: “So I am so sorry by anybody affended by the video. Sometimes we do extremely stupid things and do not think before we do. I wish I could go back to this morning and think twice but all I can do now is apologise. X (sic)

Despite the backlash, many users defended the pair “for being human” and “making a mistake” labelling those giving them a hard time as ‘hypocrites’.

One person posted: “And yet again someone makes a mistake and everyone is on their case.. some people will never learn, u guys preach #bekind and then turn on someone, hypocrites”

Another said: “Look in all honesty it wasn’t great timing or particularly funny – but you’ve apologised and there’s nothing more you can do than that! As long as you learn from it I certainly wouldn’t be feeling guilty or anything over it – we all live and learn'”

After tweeting her thoughts and additional apologies to a few fans personally, Sophie tweeted: “Thank you, everyone, for responding. It means a lot but I’m going to come off Twitter now I really don’t wanna look at ppl tweeting me and calling me. What you can’t see can’t hurt I suppose.”

Nathan also thanked fans for their support, saying: “Thank you to those for being understanding but that’s enough twitter for me tonight, again I apologise for any disrespect and upset. Goodnight, God-bless’

A lawyer for the Caroline Flack’s family confirmed that the TV presenter took her own life and was found in her east London flat on Saturday.

The news of her death came just weeks before she was due to be in court over allegations of assault following an alleged bust-up at her home involving 27-year-old boyfriend Lewis in December.

The Crown Prosecution Service decided to press ahead with the trial despite Lewis publicly declaring Caroline’s innocence.
