Harry Redknapp drops cutting Louise divorce jibe as son Jamie makes Strictly vow

Louise Redknapp ‘s father-in-law Harry Redknapp seemed to make a backhanded jibe about his son Jamie’s divorce.

During a conversation about Strictly Come Dancing, Harry suggested that his son Jamie wouldn’t have any problems with the dreaded curse which has caused many couples to part ways.

The 73-year-old began to poke fun of the fact Jamie had separated from his wife Louise Redknapp so therefore couldn’t be affected by romance scandals.

The Heavy Love hitmaker, 45, appeared on the hit BBC ballroom dancing show in 2016, filling for divorce only a year later.

At the time, Louise claimed that Strictly may have enticed her decision to leave her husband, as it highlighted that she yearned to be in the limelight again.

In an interview with Stella magazine, she confessed: “Sometimes I felt like crying because deep down inside me this voice was screaming ‘This is what I have been missing!'”

The couple who had been married for 20 years, filed for divorce in December 2017, ending their marriage.

When speaking about Strictly he jibed: “One thing’s for sure Jamie, you won’t be getting divorced if you go on there.”

“Keep it light, Dad”, joked his 46-year-old son Jamie.

Previously, Harry had spoke openly about how he’d almost appeared on Strictly ballroom, even though he couldn’t dance.

He recalled the stint, saying: “I said, I’m not a very good dancer and so they sent a girl down to dance with me.

After establishing that the producers had actually booked a room at Harry’s local golf club Meyrick Park, Harry told them: “I can’t go and dance there, my mates are all playing golf there today, how can I turn up dancing with a 21-year-old girl?”

The football manager had already started finessing his dance routines to enter the competition when another offer landed on the table, causing him to decide between to two.

Harry said: “What happened was I’m A Celebrity came and offered me twice as much money so I went there instead!”
