Holby City fans raging as show announces major schedule change after lockdown

Holby City fans are furious after the show announced a huge change to their scheduled programming.

Show bosses revealed that filming has started up again on set after production was halted due to the coronavirus lockdown.

However, viewers are fuming as they also announced that the running time of each episode is being reduced.

Episodes will now run for just 40 minutes, instead of the usual hour-long programme.

Fans rushed to Twitter, frustrated over the disappointing news.

One said: “Why is it being cut to 40 mins? Hardly worth watching if this happens.”

While another wrote: “40 MINUTES,” with a crying face emoji.

“Is the cut to 40 mins permanent?” tweeted a third fan with a sad face emoji at the end of their comment.

While a fourth Holby City fan wondered: “Is that 40 mins to start with, then eventually 1 hr episodes?”

The announcement came alongside with the news that the medical drama has a few Covid-themed episodes in the works.

Kate Oates, Head of Continuing Drama at BBC Studios explained: “It’s with great pleasure that we open the doors at Elstree to welcome back the exceptional cast and crew of Holby City.

“We have some gripping stories to tell as we explore how the lives of our characters have been irrevocably changed since the start of the pandemic – and how our heroes battle against the odds, come what may.”

Holby City airs Tuesdays at 8pm on BBC One.
