Hollyoaks' Juliet and Peri's secret lesbian passion 'set to end in tragic death'

Hollyoaks actress Niamh Blackshaw has hinted that her character Juliet Quinn’s lesbian kiss with Peri Lomax (Ruby O’Donnell) could end in a tragic death.

The Channel 4 soap aired a flash forward episode to New Year’s Eve 2020 in December, which dropped the bombshell that best pals Juliet and Peri would declare their love for each other.

Niamh has confirmed that she’s already started filming scenes, which explores Juliet’s sexuality.

Speaking to Metro.co.uk, Niamh explained: “In scenes we’re filming at the minute, which obviously won’t be out for a while, there’s little suggestions that Juliet’s sexuality isn’t just — or at all — boys.

“She’s exploring it. She’s finding different feelings, and finding herself.

“She’s having more to do with Peri, so there’s suggestions that there’s more to this relationship than just friendship, but I don’t know how it’s going to develop.”

The young actress also opened up about who she thinks is in the body bag, which fans also got a glimpse at during the flash-forward episode.

Niamh teased: “I don’t know who’s in the body bag.

“Whoever it is, I don’t know — is it anyone I know? Is it me? I don’t know.

“No one has spoken about it, no one has said that they know, but yeah, not a clue. It could be anyone.”

The Hollyoaks star also added that there is plenty of twists and turns to come over the next nine months.

Niah added: “So, Juliet is going to get arrested, and there’ll be consequences. She’s going to ask questions, she’s going to have to make some decisions — as to whether she’s going to speak up or whether she’s going to carry on — and there’s going to be a moment where her life could go in either direction.

“She is scared, she knows the risks.

“She knows the consequences if she’s caught, but she’s grown up with it, but she also knows how to work around it.

“So, as much as she’s nervous, she’s not overwhelmed, because she knows that she’ll be able to get through it.

“She feels awful after the arrest. She can’t wait to get out and never do it again, but obviously she’s a lot deeper in now than she realises, so it’s not going to be easy to just say no and goodbye.”

Niamh also explained that her drug dealing ways could ruin her relationship with her family.

The actress continued: “She is very concerned also about how James and Marnie will view her.

“She doesn’t want them to know what she’s been getting up to, because she doesn’t want to disappoint them.

“She knows what she’s doing is wrong, but what she fails to see is that she is actually a victim of the group, but she doesn’t see that, so she doesn’t feel like she can talk about it because in her mind she’s done wrong, she’s in the wrong and she’s got to be punished.”
