Jada Pinkett Smith says Will marriage was over and admits to fling with rapper

Jada Pinkett Smith has admitted that she did have a relationship with singer August Alsina during her marriage to Will Smith, despite previously denying it.

During her Facebook Watch show Red Table Talk, Jada confessed what started as a “friendship” with August became a “different kind of entanglement with August”.

August claimed that actor Will had given his blessing for the affair, however Jada cleared up his comments.

She said: “The only person who could give permission in that particular circumstance is myself.”

The actress added: “What August was trying to communicate … I think he wanted to make it clear he’s not a home wrecker.”

Jada explained to viewers that the relationship came about during a rough patch with Will, saying: “I was done with you,” as she added: “We broke up.”

She said: “At the end of the day, I don’t like how all of this came to be. That doesn’t matter, it’s all love, honestly.

“That would be something I wouldn’t comment on at all. I feel like it’s a situation I consider private.”

Will, who was on the show with her, laughed: “But now Black Twitter has claimed it as their business.”

He asked Jada to explain “clearly what happened” between her and August.

She said: “I got into an entanglement with August. A relationship, it was a relationship, absolutely.

“I was in a lot of pain, I was broken and in the process of that relationship I definitely realised that you can’t find happiness outside of yourself.

“And luckily enough, you and I were also going through a process of healing in a much different manner.”

She went on: “It had been so long since I felt good.”

Jada said she does not think of the romance as a transgression “at all”, saying: “I was really able to do some really deep healing.”

She explained that August ended things when she “started to realise certain things” about her relationship with Will.

It isn’t clear when the relationship ended, but August made an appearance on Red Table Talk in 2018.

Jada and Will have been married for 23 years and she said it “all seemed very strange” for August to be talking about their relationship.

She said: “We have really got to that new place of unconditional love.”

While Will added: “It ain’t for the weak at heart, there are just certain things we have to go through.”

They finished, joking: “We ride together, we die together, bad marriage for life.”
