Kate Ferdinand in tears as Rio's son Lorenz shares emotional tribute

Kate Ferdinand broke down in tears after her stepson penned a heartfelt tribute to the star on her birthday.

The former TOWIE cast member celebrated her 29th birthday in lockdown – and was surrounded by husband Rio and his three children, Lorenz, 13, Tate, 11, and nine-year-old Tia for her special day.

Taking to social media, the fitness fanatic reposted a number of birthday wishes from friends and family, including one from Lorenz, Rio’s eldest child with late ex-wife Rebecca Ellison.

Posting a family picture, Lorenz wrote: “Kate Ferdinand love you loads thank you for everything you do,” alongside a red love heart emoji.

Clearly taken aback with the public display of affection, Kate wrote: “Ok you’re making me cry again. Love you.”

Later on in the day, Kate took to Instagram to thank everyone for these kind words on her special day.

She wrote: “She wrote to her fans: “Had the most fabulous birthday…. feeling so loved, lockdown birthday has been surprisingly amazing.

“Thanks for all the messages, sorry I’ve not been on my phone all afternoon been enjoying myself with my lovely family.”

Kate, who married Rio in Turkey last year, has become a mother figure to Rio’s children after he lost his wife, Rebecca in 2015 to breast cancer.

The blonde bombshell met Rio in 2016 at a BBQ in Dubai where the pair were holidaying separately.

Kate has previously spoken about becoming a step mum and recalled a tense moment with her stepchildren during an interview with Times Magazine.

“You don’t know,” one of Rio’s children told her, “because you’re not a mum.”

“The minute they said it, there was a gasp,” she said, adding: “They’ve never said it again.”
