Loose Women descends into chaos as Andrea and Denise storm off set live on air

Loose Women’s Andrea McLean and Denise Welch stormed off set this afternoon during the latest instalment of the ITV daytime show.

The television stars wanted to show viewers what Loose Women would be like if over 50s were put back in lockdown.

Andrea and Denise both got up off their chairs and left the studio, leaving Stacey Solomon to continue on with the show.

It comes after the news that millions of over 50s could be told to stay at home under a “nuclear” option to prevent a new nationwide lockdown if there is a second wave of coronavirus.

Prime Minister Boris Johnson is reportedly considering asking a greater number of people in England to take part in the shielding programme should there be a big spike in COVID-19 cases.

Referring to the headlines about over 50s possibly having to adhere to strict coronavirus rules, Andrea decided to demonstrate her opposition to it.

As a result, she and Denise, who are both over the age of 50, decided to storm off the set.

Stacey, 30, was left speechless at the scenes and was forced to stand in and send the ITV show into an advertisement break.

Host Andrea said: “If Boris does decide to lockdown the over 50s, we’d be gone Denise – Stacey, you would be on your own.”

I’m A Celebrity champion Stacey was dismayed by the fact she would be on her own if such measures were implemented before her co-stars decided to give her a taste of what it would be like.

“Right, bye,” Andrea remarked as she waved at the camera and stormed off the set, with Denise doing the same.

“We’re gone – I’m off,” the former GMTV weather girl declared as she could be seen walking off into the wings, with the singer adding: “Charming”.

“It’s just you and me Penny,” she commented, with Penny Lancaster joining the ladies via video link.

Taking to Twitter about the presenters’ discussion one fan posted: “Yes @RealDeniseWelch! Great to hear someone in the press being calm and realistic!

“We have come on leaps and bounds in terms of knowledge since March. Whilst still a concern, I really don’t feel that COVID 19 is the biggest threat to the nation’s health.”

Loose Women airs weekdays on ITV at 12.30pm
