Millionaire contestant red-faced as 'another man' answers wife's phone

Who Wants To Be A Millionaire saw JP Hogan in the hot seat on Thursday night’s instalment of the ITV programme and he was met by a big surprise when he phoned a friend.

The scaffolder-turned-teacher got off to a fairly confident start when quizzed by show host Jeremy Clarkson, but stumbled when he got to the £8,000 question.

JP was asked by Jeremy: “Which of these days is part of the weekend in Germany?”

The four possible answers were: “Donnerstag, Mittwoch, Sonntag or Dienstag.”

Unsure of the answer himself, JP decided to use his phone-a-friend lifeline and rang his wife Elizabeth.

Jeremy Clarkson made an hilarious gag

But Jeremy and JP were left looking somewhat bemused when they heard another voice ahead of Elizabeth’s.

A man’s voice came on the line and said: “Sorry there was no service.”

JP looked rather taken aback, and joker Jeremy, 60, couldn’t help but make a joke at JP’s expense.

Getting an hilarious jibe in, Jeremy said: “A man just answered her phone.

“Relax, it could be completely innocent.”

JP looked slightly taken aback but then began to laugh at Jeremy’s joke too.

Viewers took to Twitter in their droves to remark on the very awkward moment.

One social networker said: “So who’s the dude that answered his wife’s phone,” followed by a string of laughing face emojis.

While another remarked: “His face when Jeremy said another man answered your phone.”

A third added: “Did another man just answer the phone?”

Despite the automated voice mishap, JP walked away with an impressive £64,000.

Who Wants To Be A Millionaire airs weekdays at 9pm on ITV
