Naya Rivera search widened as cops 'find nothing in cabins' after disappearance

The search for missing actress Naya River has been extended following reports that a search of surrounding cabins and outer buildings failed to locate the star.

Naya, 33, has been missing since July 8 after she ventured out onto Lake Piru, Ventura County, CA, with her son, Josey.

The pair had been enjoying the afternoon on a rented boat when Naya failed to return.

Alarms were raised after the boat was discovered floating with only Josey, four, fast asleep on board.

A spokesperson for Ventura County Sheriff’s Office said in a statement released yesterday that search and rescue workers had continued their search following her disappearance.

“In today’s search for Naya Rivera, cabins and outbuildings in the surrounding area will be checked once again, as well as the shoreline.

“This has been part of the ongoing search effort since her disappearance on Wednesday afternoon. Boat crews continue to scan the lake.”

Speaking to People, Sgt Shannon King said: “They’re [cabins] not occupied. Nothing came of it.”

The crew continued to search the shoreline but checked in cabins following social media speculation.

Currently, rescue workers believe that Naya is still in the sprawling lake, after her son Josey, reportedly told cops that the pair went swimming.

Josey has since been reunited with his father, Ryan Dorsey, who has been spotted at the edge of the lake where his ex-wife vanished.

Cops are encouraging fans and celebs to stay away from the scene due to the poor conditions in the lake, with temperatures also reaching 90degrees.
