Rapper CeeLo Green tells of being just feet from Biggie Smalls on night he died

Legendary rapper CeeLo Green has told how he was just feet away from Biggie Smalls on the night he died.

Biggie – real name Christopher Wallace – was murdered in a drive-by shooting in Los Angeles on March 9, 1997.

An unknown black male driving a Chevrolet pulled alongside the music legend and fired a hail of bullets at his SUV.

Biggie was shot four times and died of his injuries, aged just 24.

CeeLo has now spoken out about his death in an interview with Hip Hop News Uncensored YouTube channel.

CeeLo shared his memories of the night Biggie – real name Christopher Wallace – was murdered in a drive-by shooting

He told he went to after party with pals hosted by and Qwest Records at the Petersen Automotive Museum in West Los Angeles.

He said they were celebrating and everything was “feeling good” as Biggie’s hit track Hypnotize was “blaring out”.

The rapper then told how they headed to another party to celebrate the second album American hip-hop duo Outkast going platinum.

He said about 30-minutes after arriving at the party he was given the bombshell news that Biggie had been killed after he left the party.

He said they headed back to their hotel in LA where other artists including Busta Rhymes were staying and “everybody was in tears” over the death of the rapper.

He said: “Because we wasn’t certain 100 per cent if he had died or if he was shot, we weren’t certain about what was going on.

“When we got into the lobby we were hugging and embracing and crying. I was like damn this s*** is true.”

He also described the atmosphere in Atlanta, where the Biggie had a huge following, after his brutal murder as “crazy”.

He said the community was still shellshocked after the death of fellow legendary rapper Tupac in another shooting six months before.

After Biggie was killed, many people speculated it was linked to the murder of fellow rapper Tupac Shakur, who died six months later.
