Alan Halsall says Fiz and Tyrone never got married as they 'don't have the time'

Coronation Street couple Tyrone Dobbs and Fiz Stape are not married – but why?

The popular Corrie characters are played by actors Alan Halsall and Jennie McAlpine respectively.

But Tyrone has recently developed feelings for new girl Alina Pop (Ruxandra Porojnicu) and is torn about who he has the strongest feelings for on the Weatherfield cobbles.

However, Alan has shed some light on the ongoing love-triangle.

“I think Tyrone’s proposed a couple of times, and then he got skint,” joked Alan. “I think Tyrone pawned the engagement ring. I don’t think many women would have even stayed with him after that to be honest with you.”

Alan, who has been in the hit ITV soap since 1998, admitted in an interview with Metro: “I think that’s part of it really, they just haven’t got the time, they haven’t got round to it. He’s trying to run a business, Fiz has changed jobs, life’s has just took over.

“And actually their relationship has taken a back seat – and clearly their marriage did too.”

The gripping storyline has got viewers hooked and had them asking whether Tyrone will leave Fiz or will they finally get to walk down the aisle.

But Alan, 38, stressed that life has seemingly got in the way of Tyrone and Fiz from finally tying the knot.

He stressed that “100 per cent life has got in the way”, something he feels all of us have to deal with on a everyday basis.

Alan admitted Tyrone has been “conflicted throughout” and in a “perfect world” he wanted everybody to be “happy”.

However, the experienced actor warned that the “even bigger dagger is the children” and that in soap storylines it’s often the children become “collateral damage”.

Fiz doesn’t take the news well of Tyrone and Alina’s kiss

Alan added that he now thinks it will be very tough for Tyrone and Fix to makes things, even he “he loves her”, albeit “just not in that way right now”.

Tyrone told Fiz that he had kissed Alina and she was understandably left heartbroken.

Fiz’s friend Maria Connor (Samia Ghadie) got involved and warned Alina to stay away from Tyrone.

Alan’s character Tyrone has been doing a lot of soul-searching in Corrie

And in an interview with Digital Spy, Alan admitted he was left shocked by the sneaky storyline.

“Shocked! It did come as a bit of surprise to me for sure, and then you start to think of your own selfish things as an actor,” Alan said.

“Myself and Jennie have known each other for 20 years and honestly there is not a day that goes by that I don’t love working with that woman, she’s the most professional and just a joy to work with on a day-to-day basis. I love working with her.”
