Beat The Chasers fans gobsmacked as player scoops £50k after very slow start

Beat The Chaser viewers were left with their jaws on the floor on Monday night as contestant Kat Glennie-Soares beat all five quizzers in an incredible show U-turn.

The Essex-based accountant won a whooping £50,000, despite only initially banking £1,000 at the start of her turn on the ITV quiz show.

Host Bradley Walsh welcomed Kat to the studio and was eager to see the contestant go home with some money in-hand.

Kat got off to a tricky start and only managed to answer one question correctly in the cash builder round.

However, the player decided to take a huge gamble and the risk was definitely the right decision.

Viewers at home rushed to their keyboards to share their disbelief and congratulate Kat on her big win.

Taking to Twitter, one fan gushed: “Kat deserved that. She was so sweet.”

Another added: “Kat winning that £50000 has got to be the least expected but best thing ever.”

A third person posted: “Well done Kat.”

While a fourth viewer said: “Yes Kat.”

“Aww well done Kat! Got me a bit emotional there, added a fifth teary fan.

“Well done Kat 40 seconds – smashed it – so pleased for her £50000 – just what we needed on this 3rd lockdown night,” added another social media user.

Speaking to Brad before taking on the tough quiz show, Kat told the host that she needed the money as she planned to get married.

The dog lover was later offered £50,000 to take on all five quiz champions, and she accepted.

Despite being told she had “no chance” by The Beast, Kat beat the quizzers in an dramatic showdown.

Presenter Bradley, 60, offered an emotional Kat his handkerchief for her tears as she couldn’t believe her luck.

All five chasers got off their seats to praise the contestants and Mark “The Beast” Labbett admitted he was eating humble pie.

He also apologised to co-star Shaun Wallace for mucking up the game after he told him off the night before for stumbling on a question.

The second series of the game show premiered on Sunday night.
