Blink-182's Mark Hoppus tells fans he's battling cancer and 'he's scared'

Blink-182’s Mark Hoppus has revealed he is battling cancer and admitted he is feeling ‘scared’.

The rock singer also said he is feeling ‘hopeful’ as he told fans the shocking news on his Instagram.

The 49-year-old bravely shared the brief message on his Instagram Stories, where he said he had been undergoing chemotherapy for the past three months.

He wrote: “For the past three months I’ve been undergoing chemotherapy for cancer.

“I have cancer.

“It sucks and I’m scared, and at the same time I’m blessed with incredible doctors and family and friends to get me through this.”

The star confessed he has months of treatment ahead of him but he’s trying to stay positive following the diagnosis.

He wrote: “I still have months of treatment ahead of me but I’m trying to remain hopeful and positive. Can’t wait to be cancer-free and see you all at a concert in the hopefully near future. Love to you all.”

The bassist shared a photo of himself sitting in what appears to be a doctor’s office.

He posted a caption alongside the snap that reads: “Hello, yes. One cancer treatment, please.”

In the picture, there appears to be an IV hooked to his arm.

However, the post soon disappeared as it seems the star may have deleted it afterwards.

Although the star tweeted the news as well with the same caption a while later.

Fans were quick to rush to the comments to send the singer well wishes.

One person wrote: “I met you in 2016 and it was the best day of my life, earlier this year when I was going through my own battle w chemotherapy, blink-182 got me through it.

A Brit fan added: “I’m truly gutted and upset to hear your news… You are one of the nicest dudes I’ve ever had the pleasure of meeting. Stay strong, keep fighting. I look forward to seeing you again next time you’re in the UK.”

A third said: “Another added: “This is not how we want you to be trending on Twitter. Sending love & light to you and your family! Ring that bell like my mom is on Friday!!!”

Fans were first worried about Mark’s health following a post on social media recently which saw him sitting in hospital receiving treatment on June 23.

He has not detailed what type of cancer he is battling, as well as the long-term prognosis following the treatment, but admitted he is ‘scared’ and ‘hopeful’.
