Caitlyn Jenner tells The View host 'don't sweat it' over misgendered pronouns

Reality star Caitlyn Jenner has accepted an apology from a television presenter who repeatedly misgendered her live on air.

The 71-year-old Olympian turned TV personality announced her run for governor of California last week.

Discussing her turn to politics on ABC’s The View, co-host Joy Behar used the incorrect pronouns for the transgender star.

Joy repeatedly used “he” and “him” when referring to Caitlyn – who came out as transgender in 2016.

After correcting herself at the time, Joy addressed the “mix-up” on air, when the show returned from a commercial break.

“So first of all let me apologise for my pronoun mix-up. I think I just didn’t get enough sleep last night,” she told viewers.

Joy continued: “I had no intention of mixing [the pronouns] up, and I tried to correct it immediately… but whatever. It just came out. So I’m sorry if anybody was upset by that.”

Responding on Twitter, Caitlyn penned: “Don’t sweat it, Joy Behar. I’m not about cancel culture. I know where your heart is. California has bigger issues than pronouns.”

The Keeping Up With The Kardashian star announced her candidacy on Friday, writing “I’m in” on Twitter and saying: “California is worth fighting for.”

A statement mentioned her intent to cut taxes, repair the economy and fight special interests.

She also called herself an outsider and the only candidate “who can put an end to Gavin Newsom’s disastrous time as governor”.

Caitlyn has already taken to Twitter to make her stance known on a case very close to Kim Kardashian’s heart – prison reform.

As part of her Cait for California push, she fired off a tweet about “dangerous criminals” in the streets.

“This is horrible and also avoidable. Gavin’s District Attorneys across California are releasing dangerous criminals back on to our streets. Enough is enough. #RecallGavin,” she wrote.

It has been claimed in the past that Kim, 40, finds Caitlyn’s approach more detrimental, as it uses more of taxpayer’s money and does not get to the root of why people commit crime in the first place.

Sources told TMZ that Kim’s a big supporter of Governor Newsom’s approach of rehabilitating and offering reentry support to those coming out of prison as well as investing in crime prevention.

The US publication also added that Kim and her sisters Kourtney and Khloe have no plans to endorse Caitlyn in her bid for CA Governor.
