Catherine Zeta-Jones mourns loss of 'beautiful' cousin in heartbreaking tribute

Catherine Zeta-Jones has shared her heartache after “beautiful” cousin Gemma died.

Actress Catherine took to Instagram to share the sad news with her followers and pay tribute to the “extraordinary mother”.

Catherine wrote “Gemma, 1983 – 2021”, posted a picture of Gemma, and added: “On February 13th my beautiful cousin Gemma left us in this world.

“She was truly a ‘Gem’ to us all and she was truly an extraordinary mother to her five children.

“Tomorrow she will take her final resting place. Join my family and I and leave a light on for Gemma tonight.”

Last year Catherine and husband Michael Douglas mourned the loss of his father, Kirk.

Kirk, another famed acting talent, died in February last year at the age of 103.

“It is with tremendous sadness that my brothers and I announce that Kirk Douglas left us today at the age of 103,” Michael confirmed.

“To the world, he was a legend, an actor from the golden age of movies who lived well into his golden years, a humanitarian whose commitment to justice and the causes he believed in set a standard for all of us to aspire to.

“But to me and my brothers Joel and Peter he was simply Dad, to Catherine, a wonderful father-in-law, to his grandchildren and great grandchild their loving grandfather, and to his wife Anne, a wonderful husband.

“Kirk’s life was well lived, and he leaves a legacy in film that will endure for generations to come, and a history as a renowned philanthropist who worked to aid the public and bring peace to the planet.

“Let me end with the words I told him on his last birthday and which will always remain true. Dad – I love you so much and I am so proud to be your son.”

And on what would have been his 104th birthday, she shared a snap of herself planting a kiss on his head, captioning it: “Missing you every day. Happy birthday Pappy.”

Catherine and Michael wed in 2000, meaning last year they marked their 20th anniversary as man and wife.
