Channel 4's Bake Off slapped with 115 Ofcom complaints after Jurgen's show axing

The Great British Bake Off has been slapped with 115 Ofcom complaints after contestant Jurgen Krauss was kicked off of the show.

The Channel 4 baking show was met with over 100 Ofcom complaints from angry viewers as he faced the axe in the semi-finals of the competition – which aired on Tuesday (November 16).

Some fans were so furious at the judges’ decision last week that they claimed they were boycotting the final.

The complaints issued to the media regulator came on the Tuesday of the semi-final, and they related to the treatment and elimination of Jurgen during the show.

Bake Off fans fumed to Ofcom when Jurgen was axed from the show

The German baker, 56, was sent packing after nine weeks in the tent, and he became a fan favourite on the show for his gentle approach and impressive baking skills.

He even won Star Baker a total of three times on the show for his incredible creations, but it wasn’t enough.

The semi-final was patisserie week, and Jurgen’s ‘murder at the opera’ slices immediately won over Prue who described it as “sensational”.

Sadly though, Paul wasn’t so impressed and he admitted he didn’t “love it” as he could only taste coffee.

At one point in the show, Paul gave out three ‘Hollywood Handshakes’ to Giuseppe, Crystelle and Chigs – but physicist Jurgen sadly didn’t get one, which might have left viewers angry that Jurgen was left out by Paul.

Jurgen even managed to win the technical challenge – finishing in first place with his sable Breton tart.

Sadly though, it wasn’t enough to secure his place in the final – and Crystelle, Chigs and Giuseppe went through.

Many fans were fuming at Jurgen’s exit on social media, with many Twitter users claiming he didn’t deserve to be kicked out of the competition.

One fuming fan wrote: “What a dreadful decision #GBBO”

A second commented: “No I’m sorry I’m so angry at Jurgen not being in the final. He’s been consistently incredible and deserves to be there.

“Bake off is usually comforting and cosy and warm but rn I’m angry.”

A third was even prepared to stop watching the show as they commented: “I’m boycotting the final what a farce that is”

A fourth said: “No!! Not Jürgen!!”
