Coronation Street filming thrown into chaos as extreme rain halts production

Torrential rain on the streets of Coronation Street, Weatherfield caused havoc during filming with some of the soap stars and crew forced to find cover.

The downpours were so bad that at one point production was stopped altogether as it was impossible to film.

Stars Tina O’Brien and Jack P Shepherd, who play on-screen siblings, were two of the stars that got caught up in the traditional Manchester weather.

Taking to Instagram Stories Tina wrote: “Trying to film with the bros @jackpshepherd88 but too much rain.”

In the video, the actress, who plays Sarah Platt, panned across the cobbled streets before focusing on fictional brother David Platt who was busy texting.

Calling over to him, she asked: “Are you filming me, filming you, filming me, filming you?”

This comes after news that the Rovers Return is set to get new owners.

Jenny and Johnny have battled through a lot over the years including Aidan’s tragic death and Johnny’s imprisonment but it seems Jenny’s affair with Ronnie is one step too far.

The ex-couple have decided to sell up as they wait for the divorce papers to go through.

In new pictures, the Rovers Return is shown with a Purplebricks ‘for sale’ sign outside, which links in with the soap’s freedoms to use product placement.

Speaking about the new short-term product placement partnership with the estate agent, Mark Trinder, ITV Director of Commercial Sales and Partnerships, said: “We’ve successfully integrated Product Placements into our programmes for a number of years, and Coronation Street has been the most prominent example of this, bringing recognisable brands to viewers.

The Rover Return is up for sale once again

“This new partnership with Purplebricks gives us an opportunity to do something we’ve not done before with the agreement tying into one of our major storylines, working closely with the editorial and production teams.”

Soap boss Iain MacLeod added: “The upcoming story around the sale of the Rovers Return stems from something exciting that happens between Jenny and Johnny – but it also led to an exciting opportunity to team up with Purplebricks to sell the nation’s most iconic pub.

“The presence of a real Purplebricks sign outside adds a little bit of extra realism to a really relatable story between two of our best-loved characters.”
