Corrie's Simon Gregson spills on tricks which could help him in I'm A Celeb castle

Coronation Street star Simon Gregson will be joining EastEnders’ Adam Woodyatt as the two late arrivals to the I’m A Celebrity… Get Me Out of Here! castle this year.

The duo will be joining the fellow celebs to compete in challenges to see who will be titled the King or Queen of the Castle.

But it looks like Simon could have a slight edge thanks to his culinary skills.

One thing Simon is gearing up to bring to the table is being inventive with the food they’re given and keeping them all warm – with his camping skills ready to be put to good use.

Speaking to Daily Star and other press, Simon said: “I’m not a bad cook, I can make a fire. I just hope there’s not too many physical activities.

“I used to be very fit, now I’m just very fat. Hopefully I’ll bring something to the table.”

Simon is also hoping to use the experience to shed some pounds, adding: “Wales might be a bit tamer than Australia – my famous last words. They [Coronation Street stars] said it’s a bit hard to do.

“The food isn’t great, but for me it’s a bonus as I desperately need to lose weight, so I’m viewing it as the worst bootcamp in the world.”

However, just before he went in Simon certainly used the time before he went on the strict diet to make the most of the food around him.

He said: “I had all the best intentions in the world in my two week quarantine.

“I thought, there’s gym equipment, I’ll lower my food intake, would do all the proper sleeping patterns… I’ve done none of them.

“I’ve been putting it all to the back of my mind so far so at one point I forgot what I was doing there. I was just eating curry’s and enjoying life to the full.”

Simon couldn’t be more excited to join the fellow celebs in the castle, particularly Danny Miller and Richard Madeley, confessing he knows both of them and they’re “lovely guys”.

In Thursday night’s episode Simon will enter the castle with Adam Woodyatt as a surprise star shake-up for the fellow celebs.

I’m A Celebrity airs night on ITV and ITV Hub at 9pm
