Countdown star Susie Dent 'splitting from husband after nearly 20 years'

Sad news for Countdown fan favourite Susie Dent, as it’s believed she has split up from her husband of 20 years, Paul Atkins.

The wordsmith, 56, first joined Countdown’s Dictionary Corner back in 1992.

She regularly wows fans with her knowledge, and regularly teaches people new words.

The Sun is reporting that she has now split from her teacher husband Paul Atkins on amicable terms.

A source told them that it is a “very sad situation” and that Susie has “handled everything stoically”.

They added: “She has ploughed on professionally with all aspects of her working life and is simply trying to make the most of a heartbreaking scenario.

The pair have two daughters together, and they have reportedly been reportedly living apart for the past year.

It’s now believed they have told friends and family of their separation, and the sources say that there are no other parties involved in the split.
