Dancing on Ice fans predict 'poor' Hamish Gaman will quit the show for good

Fans of Dancing on Ice have predicted Hamish Gaman will quit the show permanently.

Hamish has stepped out of the show for the second year in a row after suffering from an injury.

The professional skater pulled out abruptly after snapping his tendon, forcing his celebrity partner Faye Brookes to pair up with fellow pro Matt Evers.

The 37-year-old “may not return” to the ITV show next year according to his fans.

Hamish quit the show last year with former celebrity partner, Caprice Bourret, amid claims that they were “bullying” one another.

Discussing the topic on a forum, one fan wrote: “Poor lad, I bet he’s tempted not to bother again next year even if asked.”

Another agreed, and posted: “I wouldn’t blame him if he left.”

One more added: “I don’t see Hamish being back either. Strictly is a real plum gig for dancers but I’m not really sure if DOI is quite as good of a career option for skaters and having two years in a row where things started looking promising and went to pot would probably make anyone at least reconsider their future on the show.”

However, it seems Faye and Hamish got on very well before his departure, as she took to Instagram earlier this week to praise him.

“It’s not the end of my journey it’s just a change of direction…” she wrote.

“I had the honour of being taught how to skate by the one and only @hamishgaman and with all the skills & knowledge that he so kindly gave to me I now get to begin a whole new chapter with @themattevers. Who’s Ready?”

Hamish shared an equally gushing post about the former Coronation Street actress and said that he was “proud” of how far she had come.

With the post, Hamish shared clips of himself and Faye rehearsing their routine, which they will now be unable to perform together

He wrote: “Hi everyone I’m heartbroken that I’ll no longer be skating with @faye_brookes on @dancingonice. I’m so grateful that I don’t need any surgery on my finger, but if I stay in the show I could have an accident and make my injury much worse (it is series 13).

“Coaching Faye for 4+ months has been a privilege and I’m so proud of the incredible skater that she’s become.

“I remember her being scared of skating backwards and wondering if she’d ever be able to do a 3-turn or backward crossover. Faye, you’ve come so far and achieved so much.

“The first two videos are the lifts that Faye and I were going to do in our next routine. Our song choice was ‘Into the Unknown’ from Frozen 2 Faye and I were so excited to skate to this song together.

“I can’t wait for the pubs to finally reopen so that Faye, @iamjustjoe, @ameliaskating, and I can all go for a pint. Faye, your friendship and support means the world to me. Thank you for everything #dancingonice.”

It comes after it was confirmed that Dancing On Ice would be taking a break from filming this weekend amid a slew of exits.

It will return on Sunday 28 February, and will not air this coming Sunday as scheduled.
